Wow that is MacT awful, a 20th or higher pick and a 50th or higher pick for an awful contract that puts you in cap hell in a year and half when you have to sign Giordano, Gaudreau, Monahan and hopefully add some others who can contribute to your team. And you burn 4 percent of your cap space minimum on a bad contract during years where this team will be a cap team (last two years of Richards contract minimum).
Bump a dead thread 3 days later. Trolls gonna troll I guess
A 1st maybe if they get desperate but if Kings don't make playoffs that's a pretty high pick. Toffoli is out of the question in my opinion. Unless the team taking on Richards adds something to even it out.

That miiiiight explain why we didn't make the trade.
It's not worth taking on that cap hit unless you're getting a Toffoli or another significant piece back.

I wish the 2 compliances buyouts were never included in the last CBA. I was waiting to bask in the glory of teams choking on contracts like Ehrhoff, Lecavalier, Gomez, etc. If those compliance buyouts had never been included I think a team like ours would have been reaping the benefits right about now. Teams would be trying to outbid each other while trying to jettison contracts. It would have been a beautiful thing.
Wow, not a terrible AHL stat line - 16 GP 3 G 11 A 14 Pts and a +6
Kind of seems like a desperate move at the same time from the Kings perspective as they start losing a bit of traction on the wildcard/pacific D race. This will be a interesting story line to follow down the stretch here.
Richards cleared waivers on Jan. 27 and ended up playing in 16 games for the Manchester Monarchs, the Kings' American Hockey League affiliate. He hasn't played since March 8, but has been in Los Angeles undergoing physical testing and training. According to LA Kings Insider, the goal was to try to come up with a way to improve Richards' conditioning.
