Dougie Hamilton was my dream acquisition for this summer. I thought we would offer sheet him, but I am over the flippin moon we got him any way possible. At 22 he has the potential & pedigree to be the best defenceman in the league some day. We got him for 3 draft picks. Holy #### Treliving, you have just made yourself some fans.

Gilmour to leafs
Phaneuf to Leafs
Gilmour to Calgary
Joe Mullen to Calgary
But this is the biggest trade we've made where we've actually won since .... niewendyk?
We won other trades but as far as big ones go...
Even Nieuwy wasn't a win at the time of the deal.
I'd say Gilmour to Calgary and Joey Mullen to Calgary would be the biggest wins historically.
And the Kipper deal, but again that wasn't a win when it was completed.

Macmillan and Lever for Lanny McDonald was not too shabby.

Wasn't there some noise that Chia took lower return from Dallas to spite Feaster? For the Iginla fiasco? Haha, seems like a fitting situation where Bruins accept lower return to spite Chia! Maybe, maybe not...
Great deal, but offer sheet was a legitimate risk for the Bruins. That would be picks next year in a weaker draft, with uncertainty around where those picks would actually be and also a year later in their seemingly rebuild process. It's awesome for us, but Bruins did ok.
Still stunned at this deal what a terrible terrible trade makes no sense at all even if you have cap issues. You traded lucic you could make it work. You don't trade away franchise defenders for picks. This was highway robbery.
I dont know if anyone has posted this yet and I am lazy and do not intend to read through all 45 pages... so just ignore if I'm spouting old info.
Here are the draft picks at 15, 45, and 52 respectively over the last 5 drafts
2014 - Dylan Larkin, Brett Pollock, Maxim Letunov
2013 - Ryan Pulock, Nick Sorensen, Justin Bailey
2012 - Cody Ceci, Anthony Stolarz, Teodors Blugers
2011 - J.T. Miller, Markus Granlund(!), Miikka Salomaki
2010 - Derek Forbot, Ryan Spooner, Philip Lane
Would you trade any group of 3 from those draft rounds straight up for Hamilton? I wouldnt either. With the exception of the odd elite player at 15 (IE Erik Karlsson in 2008 at 15) I say we fleeced Boston.
If he didn't like Boston he'll hate Calgary then. Amazing city.
Except for the traffic

I’m always amazed these sportscasters and announcers can call the game with McDavid’s **** in their mouths all the time.
Losing the picks obviously stings but defencemen like this, at this age just don't become available that often. If at all.
Also very happy that the Flames didn't have to give up one of their young core pieces to get him, as that was one of my biggest fears in a trade like this.
So excited for training camp to start now.
