Well, my new years day eve took a turn I didn't expect.
I never saw Ian's thread about his gofundme, so this was a big 40 page suprise. I could read the racist and homophobic undertones in his posts and it grated me. I'm glad he'll no longer be a part of our community going forward. We're a better community without those views and prejudices with us.
I'm sorry for everyone who was scammed out of their money, but I'm also very proud of CP for opening up their wallets to help someone who (we believed) was in need. It speaks much more to you and your collective heart and soul then it does to someone like Ian.
People like that will always get what's coming to them.
Happy New Years, CP.

However, this is under Canadian law, and the real question is who would assert jurisdiction. Arguably, the fraud took place on CP, whose servers are presumably based in Canada, so it's possible that it should be considered a Canadian crime. But the guy's clearly primarily tied to Florida, which is the basis on which US courts assert jurisdiction, and he was there the entire time he was committing the allegedly criminal activities. As far as the law in Florida goes, well...
In case anyone was actually interested in whether the guy's literally a criminal.

Both Alberta (presuming that is where the servers are) and Florida could assert jurisdiction. The US federal government could too, conceivably, under a mail/wire fraud claim. I presume that Canada has a similar federal statute.
The issue with prosecuting in Canada is getting extradition (well, it is one of many issues, really), but regardless, even under US Federal law and Florida state law, Ian could be in for a world of hurt if someone wanted to press the issue (whether civil or criminally--although a private party typically can't bring their own criminal action). The punishment for a misdemeanor in Florida is nowhere near as harsh as 14 years in a Canadian prison, but there are plenty of other causes of action available that could make the 14 year option look mighty sweet.

You're just proving my point, this is all being done to see how far it goes, not for anyone's benefit. Yes, he likely scammed people, but is this really the venue for vigilante justice?
His ex getting involved at this point does nothing to fix any damage done and is only going to exacerbate the situation, and unlike you and I, this has real world risks and implications for her.

Hold on.
Someone allegedly defrauded people on this forum, and you're against people taking the accused's own words to demonstrate the fraud, despite all the evidence was posted freely by himself?
Ducay, I honestly hope no one ever wrongs you in your life. I honestly hope that you are never the victim of a crime. I'd hate for someone to say to you "there's video of the perpetrator stealing from you, but let's not muddy the water here, let's have some decency and common sense and let the suspect get off scott free".
Also keep in mind that there is no comment on the timeline from me. Realize that a solid timeline could absolve PIMking of wrongdoing, or give a reasonable excuse.
Dyslexia could be part of an underlying cognitive issue, which could have lead to drug abuse, which could have led to health and relationship problems. If that's the case then there is a reasonable understanding of what happened.
Facts are facts. They don't work against PIMking, they don't work for PIMking, they just outline what happened. Nothing more, nothing less.
I don't expect you to understand that, I don't expect you to see that the board has actually been firm but fair. As much as people like to call MMF a dink, he's been willing to listen to explanations, and accept the evidence as presented. I can't say the same for you.

I didn't donate so will concede that I have less skin in the game, but put me in the camp that this thread went weird and creepy as soon as it was suggested that the ex was coming to post. The AMA style firing squad of questions was really off putting. You all got scammed. Keep it to lamenting amongst yourselves about it and wear the fact that you all reached out to help a guy as a badge of honour. You and the CP community should be very proud of that. Don't tarnish it by crossing the line into ruining his life or digging into overly personal details just for the sake of it. It's getting awkward.

Ok..first off I'm not trying to be a dick here, and I have no dogs in this fight one way or the other. This whole thread has been great entertainment during a time for me when there's not a whole lot else going on.
This is the internet, where a lying, scamming ###### nozzle has plastered his name and personal details EVERYWHERE. Who really cares if someone else simply connected the dots and placed them on a timeline?? Obviously Q-scout's just as bored as you and I are! Who cares if we're all calling out a scumbag for everything he deserves?
Like I say, I'm not trying to be a dick here Ducay, but if all this is such moral depravity in your eyes, why do you keep coming back to it? Why don't you close up the off topic forum for a day, and come back when the dust settles?

Again, you're acting as if you, MMF, and Squiggs are working tirelessly to bring a perpetrator to justice. You are not the justice system. Vigilantism is not going to help anyone.
I'll keep repeating myself. You've done enough to alert the world and stop him from doing this again in the same way. Anything further accomplishes nothing.
Report it to US Police if you think it is a crime, we are not Judge Dredd.

Well I'm not going to leave when I see that people are potentially doing harm to two people's lives for their own entertainment or sense of justice.

"Want to see how far it goes" is in reference to has he done more than we are aware of, is there a longer history of scamming people out of their money.
Mods and admins already asked we keep it to investigation, not to go after the man himself, his livelihood, etc.. So how is this vigilantism?
She came here because she wanted to, after she found out about what he did, and his comments about her and the breakup. Lets let her decide what she as a grown up wants to share with us.
