If you are Tampa would you offer one of Palat or Killorn + 1st + Prospects for Panarin.

Sure you give up a good piece but you also get another elite forward to push you over the top.

For Columbus they'd get picks / prospects and a player that can help them right away that's signed long term.

Probably would have made more sense if Tampa was closer to the pack and not just destroying everyone as it is.
I think Tampa should do that. I also hope that it ruins their team chemistry. I also hope that the Flames meet Tampa in the Stanley Cup final.

My WAG's, I think Panarin ends up in Vegas and Brobrovsky going to the Sharks.

Before the Koskinen deal, I would have predicted Brobrovsky going to Edmonton for their 1st and Talbot. But now with Koskinen anointed as their starter, I don't see that happening anymore. Which is too bad. It would have been sweet to see Talbot get his game back in Columbus, and the Oilers miss the playoffs while not having their 1st round pick.

Part 2 is still likely IMO.

As great as it would be for the flames to get a guy like Panarin... I think the price for him will be too high. But him being available on the trade market could lower the costs of other rental players that the flames could target instead. Zuccarello, Ferland, and Hayes may end up being cheaper to get as multiple teams go after Panarin, Stone, and Duchene.

For the right price (hopefully no first round pick), any of those 3 would be a good depth add that could play up and down the line up. Zuccarello, Ferland, and Hayes could all bring different elements to the flames. They all have skill sets that could make them a big factor in the playoffs but they’re also less likely to disrupt the chemistry in the room since they aren’t top tier players.

Ok here is my bold 3 way prediction. Don't bash me too hard, meant only as a framework.

Preds get Panarin
Sens get Preds 1st, Fabbro or Tolvanen, Preds 2020 2nd (pick only transfers if Panarin re-signs)
BJs get Duchene after which they shortly announce a contract extension. Whatever money they were planning on giving Panarin.

I would be really sad to see Geoff Ward go. If he is responsible for the power play, then he has done a good job.

The league average PP is 19.99%.
The Flames' PP is 23.60%.
They rank 8th.

That's a huge jump and its even more impressive because it took a while to get going.

Panarin is good, but if I'm Nashville, I wouldn't give up a 1st and a very high-end prospect for a rental.

Makes sense for Ottawa and Columbus though.

I think the only way the BJs are going to get anything decent from Panarin that doesn't do huge harm to their playoffs is in a 3-way trade or immediately flipping the prospects they receive for Panarin.

Looks reasonable and terrible. We do not need the press to bolster their offensive capabilities.

I’m more convinced than ever that, barring a big February slump, Tre does nothing at the deadline.

I’m on the other side of this. I think one of two things will happen:

1) We’ll pay a sizeable price to add another long-term piece

Or

2) After the price plummets on the 2nd tier of forwards thanks to Duchene, Panarin and Simmonds flooding the market, we’ll acquire a pure rental for a “steal of a deal”

I don’t think we’ll stand pat.

Nothing big. He may get a 4th line veteran and if Stone can't come back a veteran defenseman to play the #7/8 role. Just depth.

Has a team ever been involved in 2 three team trades involving the same player while never actually having the player on their roster.

I think how the team responds after the break will go a long way to determine what type of move the Flames make. Personally I really hope Ottawa has to trade both Duchene and Stone along with Panarin, Simmonds, Nyquist and other high priced rentals from other teams being moved. Icould see the Flames maybe being able to acquire a guy like Hayes or Zuccarello for a reasonable price.

If the team hits the skids after the break I think we could see the Flames a little more active in the big game hunting. If they are lights out I can see them just tinkering a bit but like Comix states above I hope and can see them getting a solid piece at a discounted price

Freidman just said he'd be a good target for the offseason.

It's speculation by Friedman ...

It seems likely that Ward could be on some NHL head-coaching short lists this summer.
