You don't win games on points relative to yourself at other times, it's a meaningless comparison.
I don't mean to say those are great numbers either, just not terrible.

6 assists in 19 games (all on the latter half of a 7 game series) is not considered terrible? Man I need to work for you if that's your standard.

Presumably those games get tighter defensively but those numbers still aren’t great for guys who are supposed to be stars. Matthew’s may be the best since Datsyuk at stripping the puck from players, so I give him credit for that. But between him and Marner they do not get dirty. They’ll go around guys but won’t go through them. It’s been an issue forever. As a star player you have to get your hands dirty every now and then. Those two specifically just do not. Nylander and Tavares will get to dirty places to get goals and play with a mean streak. Marner and Matthews, nope.

I don’t know if they need another stay at home dman? It fits Tre to take the flavour of the month but Ekblad is on the wrong side of his trajectory. Not to say Karlsson isn’t but I think they need that #1 offensive guy on the back end. He still has it and he can skate.

On Tavares, looks like he is leaving, or staying, or both.

The Leafs absolutely wanted to re-sign Marner they wanted to sign Marner and at the time Marner wanted to stay. As negotiations continued and things got heated between the Marner camp and the team on dollars and term, the Marner camp decided they would test free agency. As I said he would not waive his NMC and would either reach a deal with the Leafs or go to UFA. Timeline is important here. Thanks for proving me right again though squiggs, you do it better than anyone else. I think you should probably stick to snake graphs.

It would be funny, especially if Florida then wins game 7 on the road, as we'd probably see a dozen more jersey tosses. But for the sake of us potentially needing Florida to be healthy and rested should the Oilers make the finals, I would rather it end tomorrow lol

You’re really reaching. I’ve already commented on how the O’Reilly narrative was more about his off-ice demeanour than his play on the ice. The narrative about Rantanen lasted about three weeks. And he already had a large body of playoff games to show that yes, he’s very effective in big games in the playoffs.
Meanwhile, the Leafs have fallen on their face again and again and again and again in elimination games. Marner hasn’t showed up in any of them. This isn’t just optics - the results speak for themselves.
Do you think there’s no such thing as players who play well in the regular season but struggle to be effective in the playoffs? Or do you think there is, but Marner isn’t one of them?

Of course, the other problem with the Leafs is that the bottom 6 is not producing at all, so no one is stepping up when the big guns are silenced.
Laughton, Lorentz, McMann, Jarnkrok, and Holmberg have zero goals in a combined 53 games.

It's almost as if...and hear me out here...they're not very talented.
I think the 3rd line of the Panthers is outscoring those 6 all together. Heck, they might be outscoring Marner and Matthews in this series.
The problem of a Treliving team is that the depth is about size and defense, but no offense.

I don't know if I want them to win or just lose to get it over with but I will be watching.

I actually think they will win tonight and most of my circle and the rest of Leaf Nation believes the same. They're also all convinced they'll come out for Game 7 with an effort similiar to Game 5 though and lose the series in embarassing fashion. Getting into the psyche of Leaf fans over the last couple of years since I've relocated to Toronto is fascinating! These people are damaged!

It could happen, but I honestly see very, very little people getting ramped back up. As I said in my earlier post, nobody here believes the Leafs will come back. Everyone is done with this core and this team. It's actually pretty sad to witness.

Nah dude, it's really annoying to work with people who don't bother to follow conversations but still budge in with their "expertise" and "humour".

It is hilarious. The way the fans and media are talking, this series is already over and Marner is gone.
There's still a game 6 to be played.
