Well in his defence his hands were tied. The player wanted to finish out his contract there and has a NMC.

My main point being you can't come back with all 4. Who is out? Marner probably.

Tavares maybe hometown discount... he is probably worth at least kadri money on open market. What does management do

Fans want to win. Want change tre under gun

They can use that money on someone (s) else. I like what Tree has done on defense with this team. So give him.ashot with the forwards.

If JT signs for 3rd line center money keep him. If not let him go. He also fails to show up when.games matter.

Marner is out but that is because he wants out...why would he come back? To get booed off the ice in the 2nd round and blamed for everything?

He will be like Kadri and Kessel...go somewhere, play well, win a cup as a major contributer while the Leafs still suck. Like Marner is their 2nd leading scorer in these playoffs and was their best player in the reg. season which got them the Sens in round one but its all his fault?

HAHAAHAHAHAHAH GL with that

He is from Toronto right. It's comes down to money. I am sure he believes they can turn it around? I am going go stop posting. Clearly spending too much time on here dealing with ppl like you.. somebody that has addiction to arguing with ppl on internet. Nothing better to do i guess?

I'm not even arguing with you...Marner will leave and the Leafs will be worse not better. I'm saying their fans and management should be careful what they wish. The Leafs aren't losing this series because of their 2nd leading scorer. Reminds me of Kessel and Kadri who supposedly cost them playoff series.

I agree with you they will make changes, but they won't be the right ones IMO.

Treliving will let Marner go and maybe get a 4th at the draft, hand Bennett 7x$8m, re-sign JT for $7m and be a bubble team next year.

The Tavares hometown discount on his last contract is as bad a secret as Treliving was to the Leafs. If Marner leaves they will have cap space to spent. I expect they go hard after Bennett.

Okay, I disagree. I think you can look at things like players’ positions, birth months, stats, and skill sets and get a good idea of which players would be good for your team in the draft. These players are not completely unpredictable. Teams don’t have to be agnostic. They make decisions based on concrete information. And based on mock drafts and rankings, I think the later you go in the first round of this draft, the more likely you are to be picking a player who turns into nothing at all based on his numbers. It’s about probabilities. Of course, you’re right. You can also find drafts where the best player is taken in the 2nd round, etc. But I think moving down 7-10 spots in the draft, from 22 to 29-32, will hurt the Flames’ chances of getting a really good prospect out of this draft.

I definitely understand your position is it’s a crapshoot whether it’s 22 or 29-32. And I have to admit that the specific players, whom I want for the Flames, could all be gone by 22. In that case, I will agree with you. Haha

I personally expect Treliving to double down on defence as that has always been his focus. Would think they would find a way to bring in Karlsson.

If you watch that Dangle video above, the stats are illuminating..

Since 2019, in Games 5, 6, and 7 in the playoffs:
Nylander - 16 points in 19 games
Tavares - 5 goals and 10 points in 16 games
Matthews - 7 goals and 4 assists in 17 games
Marner - 0 goals and 6 assists in 19 games

I hate that there are three different ways of laying out points for four players.

Of course teams base their picks on information. But between 20-32, that information has teams reach wildly different conclusions and I think the evidence shows that, when their careers are done, there’s not a lot of difference in result between a 20 OA and a 29 OA. Look back at 2015-2018 - that’s a decent amount of time for a career to show out. Look at picks 20-31 and tell me how the research played out.

Yeah that's my feeling as well which is why them going after Ekblad wouldn't be surprising but they are locked into their top 5 defensemen for the next three years so there's only so much tinkering he can do on the back end.

Auston Matthews has 3 Goals in 16 Playoff games this season and last season. Also no Goals in the 4 Nations. Seems like he doesnt have the next gear to pick it up to Playoff mode.
