Was going to post a looks like tanking is back on the menu meme, but a hard fought one goal loss to a division leader is probably more of a sign of the Flames being mushy middle than a bottom 5 team.

Gotta love the compete level in the Flames, never give up, even down 4-0. It might not have mattered in the end of this game, but it does carry over to the next game.

Tanking is for ownership to decide, players should always compete to win.

At least they fought back, and didn't lie down taking the 0-4. Two points towards the McKenna Pick.

Tanking this way sucks!!!
It leaves much too much to chance
If we were committed to the future, we’d do this the right way and forfeit

Yesterday when the Flames were mounting a comeback, they referenced the last time they overcame a 4 goal deficit in the 3rd period. It was back in January 1987 vs the Toronto make beliefs.

What they did not mention is that they were down 5-0 with less than 14 minutes left in the 3rd to win 6-5 in OT

Only one other time did it happen ( Blues doing it against the Leafs) but they were down5-0 with 15 minutes left.

Complaining about wins and being excited about losing just seems weird to me
If we are truly needing losses (being committed to the future and all), let’s do it properly and the easy way by guaranteeing them

Brz did not look out of place. We have a pretty good group of young dmen. Need to work on the forwards a bit.

And then when you bring that talent in, hopefully next year or the year after it's 4-3 good guys instead of 4-3 bad guys.

It's a reasonable perspective to have.

It's not like we're pigs rolling in the #### of ineptitude. We want winning hockey here again, but something more sustainable. Scratching and clawing with the bubble teams to scrape into 8th with no first line players is just a sub optimal blueprint to work from.
I think many of us have been pretty clear.

We get the wanting to lose for a better draft pick.
We get that the top of the draft is where you get better players.

But we also get that bad teams don't lose all 82 games.

And there is little point in whining about wins in a post game thread.

Updated pace numbers ...

Flames need to play at a 100 point pace to make the playoffs (and this with a reduced hurdle of only 87 points, which will get higher)

Flames need to play at a 98 point pace to NOT draft in the top ten.

Flames need to play at a 82 point pace (.500) to not draft in the top five.

Brz looks like he'll be a top 4 dman

If he's not fully ready yet, he will be soon.

Another log on the trade Rasmus fire.

I don't think that's the case for everyone.

I remember seeing posts of people being happy the Flames were getting pumped because they think it's going to convince management and ownership that the team has no shot at the playoffs and that they need to start shopping veterans now. Even though at this time of the year it would be unlikely a trade is going to happen anyway.

Further confirmation that Andersson should be dealt. Let Brz marinade for the rest of the year in the AHL while we figure out a deal for Andersson. We could very well have Parekh playing in the AHL next year with the new rule.

Detroit has a lot of cap space and the only draft pick they have traded away is next year's second rounder. After last night's win, they're in first place in the Atlantic.

They also had 35 year-old Travis Hamonic play 17 minutes last night.

They seem like an ideal candidate to be looking for a massive upgrade on their right defence. The sooner the better.

Danielson is wasting away as a RW on their 3rd line. C'mon Stevie, send the boy home.

I just worry about Stevie Y being stubborn about giving up anyone decent. He'll dangle the likes of Soderblom and Berggren.

I think guys like Danielson/Kasper/ASP/Bear/Nygard are all pipe dreams.

You are probably better off going after this picks than his prospects.
