If you will take the time to read my post you will see that I have readily admitted as much, when I said that "I will be unsurprised to see the Flames scoring drop a bit with the introduction of a more stringent system."

My contention is with the idea that the Flames are an offensively challenged team that will struggle to score this season with a new coaching system in place. I maintain that any reduction in scoring within a new system will still produce better than average offensive results.

Contrary to popular belief, scoring and defense fluctuate independently

I did take the time to read your post, thanks. I was referring to your comment of where the Flames offense wouldn't fall of a cliff, and still maintain we don't know where the offense will be with the new coaching regime. This isn't an elite forward group we're talking about here (yet), it's a team that's offensive engine (when they've been successful in the last couple of years) has come from the back end. And with concern of their offensive numbers taking a hit, yes, it's cause for concern of where the offensive slack will be picked up.

It also depends how far you see the defensively stringent system taking us. I look at the 30th overall team D rank and think it will be a hell of a hill to climb to get into the top half of the league (in year 1), especially if goaltending isn't properly addressed. As such, if we're deploying a fringe top 15 offense it will be very hard to see this group being playoff-competitive next year, IMO.

Czech article from last week:
http://www.nhl.cz/dal-jsem-na-svuj-p...kanade/5009633

Key points I extracted from google translate:

He flew to Calgary after the 2nd Czech league final game, stayed for 3 days, then had a surgery.
Praised the doctors and staff and how fast the surgery went - 3 hours after the surgery he was back in his hotel room
Flames wanted to supervise his operation, that is why he had the surgery in Calgary.

Did not find a place to live yet.
Met Jokipakka, who was recovering from hip surgery, in the dressing room - most of the other players had already left town

He had more offers from other NHL teams.
His final decision was down to Nashville or Calgary
He choose the Flames based on a "feeling"
The Flames are undergoing a generation change (assume he means youth movement) and thought that he might have a chance to play regularly but that depends now on how quickly he heals and how he preforms.

Frolik called him once.
Pribyl jokes that maybe Flames management told Frolik to call him
Just got some basic information from Frolik.

Pribyl was impressed with how the Flames' representatives expressed interest - says they wrote almost every day.

Will come to Calgary on June 13 and will be here until the beginning of camp

A month after surgery he feels good
I think he says he hasn't put any weight on it yet, but feels good
Really hopes he will be ready for training camp.

I hope he's ready and raring to go. The injury sounded really nasty when it happened. Is it safe to expect him to be ready for camp?
