Flames Pribyl aiming to crack Flames lineup

http://calgaryherald.com/sports/hock...medium=twitter

Quote:
Daniel Pribyl knows who they are, knows what they can do, and — heck yes — he’d like to saddle up on right wing with Sean Monahan and Johnny Gaudreau.

But as tantalizing as the proposition is, the 23-year-old Czech forward’s main objective when he lands on North American soil to play hockey professionally for the first time is to make the National Hockey League.

“Oh for sure, I’d love to play with them,” said the 23-year-old on Monday, calling at supper time from his home in Prague. “I wouldn’t know them to see them on the street or something, but I’ve seen highlights of them and I know of them. They’re really good players.”
Quote:
A natural pivot and pass-first kind of guy, Pribyl will most likely be shuffled to the wing when development camp kicks off in early July based on Calgary’s need at the position.

Of course, that small detail doesn’t bother Pribyl one bit.

“I feel more comfortable at centre,” he said. “But two or three months at the end of this season I played at right wing and I don’t think it’s that different.

“It’s my goal (to play in the NHL) so we’ll see what happens in the next two years.”

Drafted 168th overall by the Montreal Canadiens in 2011, Pribyl had been to Calgary with the Czech junior team and competed at the 2012 world juniors.

“It’s a nice city,” Pribyl said. “I played there in the world junior championships but I didn’t have much time to spend in the city. I was there last month and I think it’s a nice city.

“I’m really excited to come to Calgary.”

They need more of a trigger man on the right side than a pass-first player. Especially when you have one of the most gifted passers already on the line.

But he couldn't do worse than Jones, so..

If he's a pass first player, it wouldn't hurt to have him playing with Bennett. 2 guys on the line who could take draws and maybe he can learn to use his size to draw some players towards himself and create some space for Sam to operate.

I hope he doesn't come too expensive, but I think Brouwer could be a perfect compliment for the top line. We mention a sniper, but with Monahan's release that could be his role, while Brouwer grinds down the other team and crashes the net for rebounds.

With how good of a shot Monahan has, having two pass-first wingers may not be the worst thing in the world.

I for one, don't think we should load up the 1st line too much. Whoever ends up being our best RW should be with Bennett.

Let's not forget that Johhny led the Flames last season in both shots and goals.

He's a great passer sure, but he's also a shooter/sniper as well.

Pass first player could work on that line since there's already 2 potential 30 goal scorers on that line. Hudler was pass first and he worked out great

Based on the fact that Burke said Bollig needs to play more, here's how I see it:

Gaudreau - Monahan - Colborne
Frolik - Backlund - Pribyl
Bouma - Bennett - Ferland
Jooris - Stajan - Bollig

So a top 5 pick again?

I don't care what line he plays on. If the guy can be a middle 6 RW it's still a good signing.

This is basically the same group that has produced top-ten scoring numbers for two straight years. If the Flames are in the draft lottery once again it won't be for lack of scoring.

Wouldn’t it be nice for Pribyl to break out into a superstar.

A top line of three superstars would sure look nice.

The Pribyl signing would be a success if he turns out to be a top 6 NHL winger. Not sure too many people have any expectation of him becoming a superstar.

From the article:

Quote:
Shortly after shaking hands with the Flames, Pribyl underwent ACL surgery.

His rehabilitation is on schedule and he plans to arrive in the city on June 13 to stay through development camp and this fall’s main camp. And, hopefully, beyond.

We're due for some hockey gods magic. I hope he can adapt to the NHL fast and turns into a great piece to the top 6.

Fingers crossed!!

I think/hope that the Flames make some trades and get better line mates Johnny, Sean and especially Sam(if we want him to be become a top centre than he will need better line mates) and I think they will try their all to make that happen.

Just wait until after July 1 to make lines, if that is the starting lineup come season opener, than yikes.
