this is the new NHL, no team plays perfect and doesn't allow any chances
good teams get bailed out by their goalies all the time

I’ve watched it a few times now and I don’t think it was too bad.
Coles left foot is off the ice on the hit, but he isn’t jumping, he just has all his weight on his right foot, which is planted on the ice into the hit.
Most of the impact looked to be more in Jankowskis chest/right shoulder.

Ugh, why Smith? Please start Rittich next game no matter what, otherwise Peters is another incompetent coach.

Refs just wanted to double check that Peters meant to put Smith back out.

Well, let's look at it logically. The 2nd goal was in no way, shape, or form Smith's fault. You don't pull him after that, even if the first was a stinky mcstinkerton.
The third goal was a lucky break combined with a full defensive collapse. You can't lay that at the goalie's feet when it was a team effort of suck, so you don't pull him then.
I can see the confusion why not after the 4th, and seeing Smith out there now for the third I can see questioning why Rittich at least didn't start this period.

Clearly he should have put on some pads and stopped the puck.
Really it would have been hard to pull him after goals 2 and 3, which were totally not on him.

Might as well. He needs to find it. This game is toast and There is no way we are a playoff team without Smith getting back to late 2017 form.
We are stuck. We need this guy to be good

Really don't get the decision to leave Smith in. If the Flames score on this PP, it's only a 2 goal deficit and they might actually be able to mount a comeback with some momentum. That just ain't gonna happen with Smith back there.
