Bad pass by Hanifin on that Jankowski hit. Bit of a rough game for him so far.
Gaudreau's lazy giveaway on the last goal was pretty bad too.
Smith is rattled. Body language is terrible.

Imaging if Peters was coaching that Flames, he would have at least taken those Flames to a Game 7 loss instead of a Game 4 sweep.

Thing is the Elliott now isn't even the Elliott we had a couple years ago. He's in the .880s in sv%. Abysmal, and the Flyers are reeling in net as bad as we are.

Smith looks like he has zero confidence -- shrinking in his net.
Frustrating especially when we are dominating play

Shots are 26-14 and you are losing 4-1.
That’s all folks.

The way our PP works, this 2 mins to start the 3rd will do just enough to sap our energy until 10 minutes to go and then its too late...
but realistically, if smith comes out to start the third then we aren't winning anyways...
rocking a .715 SV% so far tonight

Outside of Ryan it seems like if you don't perform you don't play. This might be Smith's last game as the starter.

Bad bounces on goals 2 and 3, but Smith can't allow 1 and 4 to go through him. Brutal.

Yes.
Because the first goal, which was BRUTAL, changed the momentum and gave the Avs life. Also, he was deep in the net.
Then there is the 3rd goal where he never slid across, just stuck out the glove. Even though everyone in the building new it would be a pass.
Then we have the 4th goal. Mother of God.
Flames the better team. Down 4-1

So glad this is happening to the Flames at the beginning of the season and not the end like last year. Smith was great until the injury and then he has never been the same.
Give it to Rittich as he is having Kippers 2004 season.
Bring it already!!!!

Smith is actually 38th out of 39 goalies by save percentage with a stunning .878. Only Jake Allen is worse.
And that was before he crapped his pants all over the ice tonight.

Sorry to see Janko take the hit, but it was a solid check. Wasn't a headshot at all.

How is this his fault? If he puts him back in there next game then sure. But the opposing team has 4 goals on 14 shots. What coach on planet earth can do anything about that?

The most frustrating part is that these are winnable games. Not only winnable, but where they are controlling the game for the most part. But yet, the goalie falters. Yes, it's a team game, but as far as I'm concerned, Smith lost this game for the team.

I think he'll bounce back, but we broke our goalie tonight. Should let him sit out the 3rd.

Yes, this quality of goaltending isn't going to get you far...
...but this quality of powerplay is just as defeating. Probably the biggest problem this team has faced in the last 2-3 years.
With all the changes and the promise of Geoff Ward's system I simply can't understand how it remains this awful and stagnant.

Enough about Smith.
Flames power play 0-5 against Buffalo and is crap again tonight.
Are we going to go an entire season again without addressing that debacle?
Somewhere David Cameron is laughing.

That low mileage thing is way overused. Belfour was a VERY high mileage goalie and was pretty good even as a dried up, senile, 100+ yr old, civil war vet(or however old he played to). Some just have it and some don't.
