Why does Hollywood skate on garbage talk like this? I'm thinking that in this progressive environment, this becoming public could open a lot of other doors in the vein of eliminating this kind of talk which would be some nice serendipity.
I'm betting many of the people on this forum highlighting their displeasure with Peters and their displeasure with the 'racists' on this forum have Taratino DVD's at home, that they felt perfectly fine buying, knowing what is on them.

I'm so confused.

This black and white line isn't so defined I guess. Good to know.

Yeah you are right. This whole situation is the fault of Akim because he listens to hip hop.
People call their friends and those they know by names and with words they would otherwise never use with a stranger. I know women who call eachother B****es. Like “hey b**** how are you”
Does that mean I can go up to a random woman I don’t know and call her that?
Does it mean I can then turn around and tell her “well if you don’t like it you probably shouldn’t use it with eachother”
Pretty shocking that something like this happens to a young man and we have people pointing the finger at Aliu and his choice of music. Serves you right for listening to that music where they use that word. “If it’s offensive, stop listening to it.”
No doubt the same people who came out in support of cherrys words, when cherry himself admitted to regretting the use of the term “you people”.
There are also some pretty vile things said in movies that some people don’t want to hear. That doesn’t mean you can walk up to a Tarantino fan and swear at them and turn around and tell them if they don’t like it they shouldn’t be watching pulp fiction.
Either way it’s not really the place of some conservative white male to decide what other cultures and other people say to eachother especially in their own art forms and avenues of expression. It’s not like these people have Tourette’s syndrome and they are randomly blurting out this word. It comes from somewhere and they use it for a reason.
Classic white mans burden to civilize and teach all of these inferior feeble minded people. Because there’s nothing in our culture that could possibly be repulsive and jarring to others!

It's gotten pretty convoluted so I have to agree. At this point regarding our little corner of the internet all we really need to know is if Peters is still coach or not.
And if we will have a new arena or not.
And if Johnny will get traded to Philly or not.
And if Sam Bennett will ever be a legitimate too 6 forward or not.

Sorry... I just can't get on board with pummeling someone for doing something that, while it may be wrong... can't be wrong for only some of us.
Anyone who has heard Rap knows the N word is ubiquitous as well as sexual references that denigrate and marginalize.
How is it that Bill is not allowed to complain about that sort of content being brought into his dressing room but others are defended for their right to blast it out without regard.

Not sure if this article has been posted yet, but the Georges Laraque interview is shocking to read https://www.sportsnet.ca/hockey/nhl/...cult-path-nhl/.

And when I was there alone, no parents, parents were shouting names at me, the N-word at me — so much that if you came to a game, you would think that the N-word was my name. It was insane.

Puts into perspective that even if Peters said the word in the heat of the moment and not as a direct racist attack, he digs up memories Aliu probably suffered through growing up.
I think it would be immeasurably powerful if Iginla came out with a statement in support of any and all players that were victims of racist abuse. A superstar and gentleman with tons of name recognition and authority.

If you don't understand why black people can use the word and no else else can then I suggest you educate yourself better on the subject.

I think the bigger problem is that he doesn't understand that nobody is saying Peters can't complain about the type of music being played. People are complaining about *how* Peters complained.

1. Probably not
2. Seems inevitable
3. Just say no
4. He is what he is at this point

I just want Don Cherry to say something like "I would never use a word like that, I understand how you people would feel if I did."

Same with when he choked Diane Kruger in Basterds (those are his hands).
FWIW, while DeCaprio was uncomfortable with saying the word in Django, Foxx and Jackson convinced him it was OK, which it was, in a period piece. I did find Tarantino writing it for himself in Pulp Fiction to be pretty gratuitious, and IIRC Jackson also told him he didn't really like it (not so much he quit obv.)
