I'm tired of the bag of pucks trade hyperbole; not just in this thread but in hockey-talk overall. I really think it should be a suspendable offence on these boards. If only I were in charge (*evil laugh).

One thing I am happy about - maybe by getting another goalie prospect, he won't pay up to acquire a Bishop or someone like that.

Jaybo is playing his best hockey since coming here you would think his return would be bigger or even taking some salary back to get a elite prospect would have been better.
Would you rather have a 29 yr old defencemen that can long many minutes that can teach upcoming dmen like brodie or potentially no NHL players.

I'd like someone who could teach Brodie the physical aspects of defence, and to actually make contact with opposing forwards in front of the net! That ain't Jay's strength. Brodie seems to have the offensive side of the gm. down.

Yeah so much easier to trade up with just one pick in the first round than having three. Look at picks by Feaster and our scouts last two drafts, no one of any significance was picked and hardly any of those players play a big role with their respective teams.
What a joke.

Plus, why do we need ANOTHER goalie prospect? We already have Irving / Taylor / Ortio / Gillies / Ramo / Brossoit. Now Berra? Was that really necessary?
You can believe what you want dude, you're entiltled to that... but given Feaster's previous trading history, I believe that didn't get the return he could have simply because he's not that good of a negotiator.
|
I'm not a Feaster fan tbh, still not ready to completely call him a dud. Easy to say Feaster needs to put Rattie on the table, maybe he did and was told to #### off. Bouwmeester is a $6.7M d man who has never made the playoffs and has been next to invisible, except down the stretch drive of season where he became visible for the wrong reasons the past 4 seasons. He may be in high demand to fill a void for teams, but he's is not the coupe for St.Louis people on here think he is. The best thing one can say about J-Bouw is he "eats minutes", that's not going to get you tones or return.

Does anyone remember trading for Brendan Connelly a few years back when we was putting up great numbers in the AHL? Nah me either.

I'm not complaining. I'm saying on-line stats are limited, and if that's what we are basing this trade on, fans should be happy, we just dumped a $6.7M dollar statistical dud on the Blues for a 1st rounder and some prospects, steal.

Plus, as Flames fans we've seen enough truly terrible trades to know what a real "bag of pucks" trade looks like. Doug Gilmour in his prime, Jamie Macoun + for 5 guys who weren't nearly as good as Jamie Macoun, that's a horrible trade. This trade may or may not end up working out but it's perfectly reasonable.

My thoughts(Nobody Cares):
1. 1st round pick is always a good thing to have.
2. don't know anything about the prospects included in this trade, but from what I've been reading, seems like there is some upside with both.
3. Feaster has been pretty clear about his intention on filling the gap the flames have in their organization with players in the 22-26 year old range. Both the Iginla and this trade seem to do that with the players that were involved along with the picks.
4. The only way to tell if Feaster is on the right track is to give these two deals a little time. If two of the 4 prospects included in the two deals are playing well for the flames in the next couple of years, Feaster will look like a genius. That's not even including the two firsts we will use to add prospects to the organization.

Cundari was on the Spitfires shut down pairing when they won the Memorial Cup and was tasked with shutting down Seguin.

I am not talking about stats but rankings and reports.
I certainly don't think they are be all and end all and many are awful but it is possible to get a sense of what a guy is and where he ranks on his teams prospect depth chart without watching them every game.

Like most CP'ers, the return looks underwhelming, but I'm not calling for Feaster's head either. More Trades!

If Rattie was on the table i think that you can see the Flames mindset. Its about cap space and re-tool in the off-season.

The Bruins had signed Cundari's defence partner back in 2011. I'm thinking between the Flames scouting Nemisz and the Weisbrod's Bruins scouting his defence partner, the Flames have a good read on Cundari.

I'm starting to think Calgary turned down a better deal just for the sake of saving cap space. It would have been due dilligence to at least discuss Rattie at some point.

So was the Reggie trade.
What i don't understand is that these TV analyst's and other media, predicted that some of the players on other teams that have been traded would not get as much as they eventually got.
Then you got the media predicting 1st's and top - good prospects for flames players and Feaster gets less. I really have a hard time believing that the media over rated the flames players while underrating the other teams players value.
With a sellers market the flames should have got better.
