Nope. Deposits tend to be non-refundable, and that is pretty much the standard. If you change your mind on tickets, for whatever reason, you surrender the deposit. And that is why the Canucks offering refunds by July 11 is very interesting.

How is a top 7 pick probable?
Vancouver is in the 8 spot right now, with a game in hand and 2 point lead (due to having tie-breaker) over the 7th spot Winnipeg, and a 2 point lead over Carolina.
Winnipeg hosts Boston tonight, travels to Calgary tomorrow, then season over. Byfuglien's out, Kane's upset, and their goaltender tonight/tomorrow is Michael Hutchinson (1 career GP). I'd be surprised if they get a single point.
Carolina hosts Washington tonight, travels to Detroit tomorrow for a late game, then Philly sunday for an early game. Aside from tonight's game hosting Washington, I don't see Carolina doing well.
Vancouver is the only one of these 3 with days between each remaining game, and they also have 2 @ home. Add to that their new President of Hockey Ops Linden, and I'd say they've got more to play for than either of Winnipeg/Carolina, as well as a weaker schedule.
Best the Nucks finish at is the 8th spot, with the 11th spot being a very real possibility.

My thought is that the ticket renewals are going badly (they mentioned extending the deadline yesterday I believe) and this is a move to try to get people to renew now and then come July the bad feelings of this season will be in the past and few will cancel at that point.

Hamhuis would get a very good return as would Kesler in a trade. The fact that there were rumoured to be so many teams interested in Kesler at the trade deadline is evidence of the fact. He does have question marks regarding his durability but in the right position I do think that he is a gritty, defensively responsible 25-30 goal center who has the potential to be better offensively. Add in the fact that he is on a reasonable contract and isn't a rental player and he obviously has more value than you are making him out to have.
Hamhuis is a solid #2 defenseman under a great contract, while teams won't sell the farm for him, he would garner significant interest.

I wonder what would happen to my Flames tickets if I didn't want them this year. I pay the full amount, so if I decided to cancel, I wonder if they'd keep 10%, or some other amount.

The fine print on the renewal notice says that all renewals are subject to a 10% non-refundable deposit.

This is hilarious. Canucks fail has Blaster extra bitter. Suck it up buttercup. Take your own advice, you are that miserable around here, yet you're not gone.

This is a story that’s been floating around ever since — full disclosure: I’d heard it before too, from someone else who was in the room — but this is the first time it’s been aired publicly, so it’s your chance to get a window into how truly over the Canucks thought the series when they arrived in Boston. It’s pretty cringe-inducing.
I think the arrogance is a real issue. I think that he did a good job. Dave Nonis put together most of that team, but the tweaks that he made on the run to the Cup Final, I think were really good. But I think the moves he made over the last couple years were lousy, and he would never admit to it.
Quick story: at the Cup Final, Vancouver wins the first two games in Vancouver. We go to Boston. We have our crew meal out at this Italian restaurant in Boston, so everybody. There’s like 30 people there. The cameramen, everybody.
Gillis and Aquilini happen to come into the same restaurant and they pop into the back room with us.
Aquilini barely said a word. Really nice — he bought several $500 bottle of wine. He bought a $2000 bottle of tequila that was spread around our crew, and he sat there, and Mike Gillis basically sat there and talked about how he built a champion.
And I sat there at that moment, like, listening to him — they were very nice — but, there was… Mike Gillis talked like he’d already won the Stanley Cup. And I walked out of there going, man, if they lose this, like, he really thinks they’ve won the Stanley Cup. And Aquilini, the way he’s throwing around the booze — again, really nice guy, thank you, I appreciated the shot, my $400 shot of tequila or whatever it was — but they were acting like champions already.
I think that that kind of arrogance gets you in trouble. When you don’t think you’re ever wrong about anything. The fans aren’t stupid and that can get to bother people. That doesn’t matter if you win., That’s fine. But if you start losing, that can be thing that really pushes people over the edge, and you get those Fire Gillis chants.
I go back to Kenny Holland or even Dave Nonis. They don’t get too high when they’re up, they don’t get too low. They’re likeable guys. That’s not gonna save your job when you’re sucking, but it might give you the benefit of the doubt. Whereas, I think the way Mike handled the media, a bunch of people out there… I dunno. He was a frustrating guy to deal with.

The rumoured Pens deal isn't worth as much as the 2nd pick in my view and I doubt that Hamhuis gets more than Kesler.
I have said i think moving Kesler is the best way to get pieces back but with how rarely a top 2 pick gets moved I doubt that he alone is getting that going back.
I think Hamhuis ends being worth more to the Canucks than he is to move. I think he stays and is similar to Gio for us a stabalizing force on defense for the Canucks.

Who said I was miserable here? Only place on this forum I can't stand for more than a few posts is this one, mostly because some people take this team rivalry thing waaay to seriously. Main reason I barely post here. News like this is about the only thing that draws me in, and then I bounce out to the enjoyable parts of the board and stay there.

If I ever sign up for another teams message board to argue with fans of that team, I'm checking myself into a mental institution.

No one said it was good. Certainly wasn't burnt down at the end of it though.

Blaster, didn't you become a Flames fan a few years ago? What made you go back to the Diveside?

Other way around. Grew up a flames fan. They were my second team for a long time after I got hometown fever.
