But if you want to believe it's worse than it is ... go for it!
Treliving makes more changes than most teams. He is a hard working GM. He makes good trades

Somehow team remains mediocre though.

I have a feeling it’ll be a long time before we get a line driver and puck handler on the Flames like what Johnny Gaudreau was able to do while here. Be it the current roster, prospects, trade or draft.

Tonight’s game will interesting and I’ll still watch. Two teams which are essentially on the same quality level trying to stay in a playoff race.

Yeah most midgets aka Phillips don’t go pass the AHL

We were very fortunate with Johnny and somehow wasted it

He was entertaining though. Probably the most entertaining player I’ve watched in over 30 yrs of watching the Flames

Yeah that's what I meant.

I get that you live for days like this, but not all of us wallow in grief.

Cap efficiency (signings and extensions), development and drafting are all more important than trades (in that order, imo).
Trades are important as they pertain to asset management.

Coaching hires matter as well. Not just the head coach but the supporting staff.

With that said, if the Flames had one of (a) good coaching or (b) good goaltending, they would likely be a playoff team or even a contender this year.

They’ve got a cup final appearance handed to them on a silver platter. Every other team in the west is awful this year. They’re just merely not horrible. Like they wouldn’t even be a playoff team most years but the west is absolute #### right now.

Looking at teams' last 20 games points %...

Kings .725
Wild .725
Knights .700
Avalanche .675
Stars .650
Oilers .625
Preds .625

The west isn't nearly as bad as you think it is.

For a big chunk of time the team drafted well enough, the problem is the inability to identify cheap NHL talents to fill out the roster and wasted valuable resources on garbage like Neal, Hamonic and Brouwer.

I'll always enjoy a win, no matter what. But to be honest, I don't sweat the losses anymore either and wins have gone from being amazingly joyful and are more just pleasant surprises at this point. Losses have gone from being devastating, to just meh, whatever.

I guess the reality of where the team sits has just disengaged me somewhat.

Call it faint hope or pure ignorance (it is bliss, after all...) But I still hope they win and win most their remaining games. Perhaps this underachieving regular season team comes together and rips it up in the post season, a reverse version of past teams.

Dare to dream. Win this and go from there. Stranger things have happened.

Every time they need that game launch them on a run, they come up completely flat. There is something wrong in the room, and I would love to know what it is. Maybe it's just that they've turned on Sutter, but maybe there is more.

From what I am seeing, the players are giving just enough effort to try to get the coach fired.

I think these kings with Doughty would beat the Oilers in a 1st round series in less than 7 games

So much unearned hype
