Often when teams are this outmatched they don't take risks. Those passes down the middle that our offense thrives on are suddenly just a crap ton of zone time trying to get pucks through traffic while they keep going glass and out.

I guess people saying Smith gets all the easy games can't say that about this one.

Projected Sens lines tonight - Duclair will be in Ottawa but undetermined if he will play (would be 3 games in 3 nights if he does). Stone sits regardless.

Scott Cruickshank has an article on The Athletic the other day about brothers playing each other in the NHL. Lots of good stories:

I dont know man, I dont see this as an easy game at all. I know on paper it looks like it should be a cakewalk, but thats not what I see.
I see a wounded team probably desperate for some pride and another team not nearly as desperate as well as a complete sideshow making things unpredictable.
If a game is going to need some Big Saves, its probably going to be this one.

It's a wounded AHL team. Ottawa may play hard but are they desperate? Desperate for what?
There is very little offensive skill on that team right now. I could see guys playing with some emotion and it is an NHL game after all where anything can happen but there should be no excuses for the Flames.
Trap games exist because the favored team doesn't play to their ability. This game is entirely in the Flames hands to control.

Next year's jobs.
Whenever you gut a roster like Ottawa is, it means that there are NHL jobs available for next year.
Hungry and desperate.
$70K and riding the bus or $1M+ and chartered flights? I know which one I'd fight harder for.

I'll be at the game tonight, curious to see which jersey Mark Stone wears.
(I know he will most likely be scratched)

And often AHL call-ups look just like that - AHL players.
The last thing I'm worried about here is how Ottawa plays. It is entirely up to the Flames. This isn't Mystery, Alaska.

Apt comparison.
I'm also worried about how the Flames play. Sometimes you look past weak opponents. Hey....how do you think the Oilers made the playoffs that one time?

Look at how the Flames have played all year. Even in games in which they have slipped a little against inferior opponents they have managed to win almost all of them. I am not especially worried about this one.

Unless somebody runs someone, I expect this game to have the animosity of an all star game.

I've got a Jump To Conclusions mat you might want. It's just sitting out. Want to trade for it?
