Automatic loss, but considering it took a miracle for Flames to make the playoffs after the start they had, maybe they got another in their pockets.

It would be a pleasant surprise if they won tonight.

I don't know what the stat is but it seems the Ducks always seem to get a goal in the first 10 minutes of the game. I recall a few years back the Flames actually got on top of them 2-0 quickly and Boudreau pulled the goaltender at near the half way mark of the period and before you knew it the game was tied and we all know what happens after that. There have been a few OT losses and there also was one were Getzlaf scored in the last minute of the game. I get that there have been many games where the Ducks were simply the better team but it's really amazing how you can play so many games in a building and never catch a team on a bad night and have the breaks go against you all the time.

It doesn't come close to HD's juju, but I like to think that I made my sacrifice by attending the 4-1 beating of the Flames at the Honda Center in early November and absorbing the ridicule of Ducks fans.

Was also present for the 5-0 shellacking by the Kings the night before that.

Thankfully Flames beat the Sharks two days before that otherwise that California trip would have been just depressing.

The Anaheim curse has been too vexing for too long, and the best way to deal with a pesky object is to just KNOCK IT THE HELL DOWN!

(Today's pic is dedicated to Lanny's Da Man - Happy birthday, boss)

Spoiler!

Go Flames

I'm also heading back to San Diego this Saturday for the next two weeks for work. I will be there from the 9th until the 24th. If the two teams match up in round 1 I'll be there each night soiling the building to continue the Flames wins in Anaheim.

1-0 Flames in the 19th round of the shootout.

Flames hold the ducks to 4 shots on goal the whole game, including the shootout.

Whenever these teams play, the Ducks end up playing their style of game, the Flames try to match it, and it ends up being a horrible matchup for us. Flames need to not try to match their physicality, and start skating circles around them. As much as it pains me to say, avoid the scrums and chirpiness. Make the Ducks pay by making quick plays and a quick transition game.

It's time for the Flames to impose THEIR will this game. Make the Ducks play Flames style.

The Honda curse will never end.

To end it, every Flames player needs to buy a 2006 Honda Civic and light it on fire in front of the Honda Center.

Perhaps 42 is the answer to a different question?

How many times will Johnny get slashed?
How many penalty minutes between both teams after Engelland drops Bieksa like a bad habit?
How many saves will Elliott have to make to eke out a win?
How many posts in the GT will be about how much we hate Kesler (OK that number will have to be higher than 42...)

The Flames need to up their game in the wrist slashing and cross-checking categories to the same level as the Ducks, or they will continue to get pushed around by them and the curse will continue.

I would like to see the flames win but I doubt they will... calling a loss (still %100 wrong when I call a loss)

I'm in attendance!

First game at the Honda center adding Anaheim, LA, Arizona, Edmonton, Vancouver and Brooklyn for places I've seen the Flames play other than Calgary.

Six of us in red and hoping to be a good luck omen.

Classic red Otto jersey if anyone is there and wants to say hi

Perry, Kesler and Bieksa all deserve some cheap shots tonight after the cheap shots they doled out just last game.

A win tonight would go a LONG way for the Flames confidence regardless if it's the Ducks we play in round one.

Come on boys, we believe in you.

Go Flames Go!

CGY did beat them in the Arrowhead Pond, April 25th 2006, Game 3. The score was 5-2.
So our playoff curse isn't AS bad...
