Cammy goes especially if we bring in another center, maybe Stempniak. Really expect the team to roll 4 lines this year.

If this is true as of right now we are looking at something like this for forwards.

Curtis Glencross ($2.550m) / Mike Cammalleri ($6.000m) / Mason Raymond ($3.500m)
Jiri Hudler ($4.000m) / Matt Stajan ($3.500m) / Lee Stempniak ($2.500m)
Sven Baertschi ($1.425m) / Mikael Backlund ($2.000m) / David Jones ($4.000m)
T.J. Galiardi ($1.250m) / Corban Knight ($1.500m) / Lance Bouma ($1.000m)
Roman Horak ($0.805m) /

Just heard it myself this morning on the FAN960 so the rumours are true. They mentioned that a signing seemed close.

Flames better not be giving Raymond anything close to $4 million. I don't see why they would have to pay more than $2.5 million?

You heard what exactly? I guess that's my question. What did they say specifically?

That mason Raymond has agreed in principle and will be announced tomorrow.

I like the addition of Raymond. Like e speed and his annoying nature. Something has to give though. We have way too many guys. Something big is brewing. I'm beginning to believe Backlund and Cammalleri are headed out of town in a deal for a center. Maybe the Seguin stuff has more validity to it than we know.

[TRADE] Flames acquire Dion Phaneuf from the Leafs

I could just see it.

Good rule if that's what they're doing. Just opens up and allows what was already happening behind closed doors already regardless.

IIRC what Feaster has said is they don't want post-apex players.

As for the deal... meh if true. Not a huge fan of Mason Raymond. It more easily allows us to move a guy like Cammalari but Raymond is a pretty frustrating player to watch.

I'm fine with the Flames adding Raymond, but this really creates a logjam on the wings if true. Cammi trade? Also, hoping none of our free agent deals this summer are longer than 3 years.

Need a guy who can play #1 C minutes still, than that will spell a Cammy trade. If not, we will most likely start the season with Cammy slotted in the #1 C spot.

We still need a defensemen as well.

It seemed like all his goals were against the Flames. Hopefully not an overpayment if true. $3 million max.

Did you mentally note Crosby?

A useful piece to have around during a rebuild.

Targeting hometown boys was one of the smartest things Darryl Sutter did, and I'm happy to see the current regime following suit. You sell the place emotionally while the team stinks; by the time it improves you are able to cast a wider net.

I'm guessing 5 yrs/$15M. You always seem to have to add an extra year of term for UFAs.

To be honest, I was kind of hoping that we'd skip Raymond despite all the "local boy" speculation and whatnot.

He's sooo damn soft. You can tell he wants to go to the hard areas of the ice, but he just can't because he can't hack it with 6'3" 210 lb defensemen. Obviously his speed and shot would be nice, but at what cost? If this is true, I would hope no more than $2.5 AAV.

I think these signings are a waste of time. Unless they have deals to move Cammy, Stempniak, and Hudler, it's just another redundant signing.

I really think Feaster should be focusing on the Flyers and their cap jail. To me, Brayden Schenn is a guy who could be moved given their existing depth at centre with Lecavalier, Giroux (who needs to re-sign), and Couturier. Brayden Schenn is schedule for a $3 million cap hit this year, and his brother Luke is another $3.5 million. I think there's a deal there to be made. Maybe a Backlund, Gaudreau, Butler for the Schenns type of deal. Luke is pretty useless and is making too much money, so the Flames would be taking a hit on that, but that's the cost of getting a young centre like Brayden. Flyers save a tonne of money there and pick up a good young prospect in Gaudreau.

I'm happy to hear this. He is such a smart player and a good guy. The Flames will certainly be a lot faster this year. A Galiardi - - Raymond line would be tough to keep up with and it would have some skill too.

Did Feaster define "post-apex", I would think it its different for every player. No?
