So this is what actually happened at my place. My eldest boy is living with me now and as some of you might remember from past GT's any time he watches a game with me, we lose. Normally he is always out doing 21 year old things but tonight he was at home in his room. So he had asked earlier in the day if he could watch the game with me and I was like "no fn way!" So anthem is done, I am getting all jacked and excited and as play starts he comes out and says "come on, this is stupid, I can't affect the game" and Benn scores and I lose my ####! "Out, out, out, get the F back in your room!" So he walks back to his room laughing and of course I am pissed off. So fast forward to us tying it up and I yell "YES!" Tie game boys, let's go. So the players skate to centre ice and my son comes out and is like "did we score?" and Dallas scores another goal and I just turn to him and yell "WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!, I WILL KILL YOU!!!" Then I chased him into his room and gave him a kick in the ass on the way. Have you ever watched Ren and Stimpy and Ren gets beyond pissed at Stimpy for doing something dumb? That is exactly how I looked and sounded. So he stays in his room and 4 minutes into OT I get a text from him that says I have to pee and I texted back pee out the damn window, I don't care but if you leave that room I will end you! Then Johnny scores, I scream and holler and after about five minutes I texted him he could use the bathroom. All was right in the universe and the frogs rejoiced!
I hope you are joking.

I just re-watched the game, because ... well, because.
The more I think about it, the more stunned I am we won that game. That's just such a Flames game to lose. Favoured? At home? Must-win? Playing amazing until game 6? Just ... so many things seemed to be pointing to a Flames loss. Then, of course - Goal Against on the very first Dallas shot. Classic, classic Flames. Work their asses off to tie it up and on the very next shift go back down by one. Keep working, keep working and we tie it up, but just can't go ahead.
That's just a recipe for the kind of kick-in-the-grundle loss we've seen over, and over, and over...
And they won. Not only did they win, but Johnny Gaudreau, our best player played a phenomenal game and came through in the clutch, while our go-out-and-get-him UFA #1 goalie signing played absolutely amazing.
Friggin' awesome, feels amazing.

YAA! High fives guys! I will give credit where due, Jakob Oettinger put on the greatest goaltending performance in the playoffs I have ever seen in all my years of watching hockey.
The V-8 of Frog Power was the answer.

Ish. But for a legendary goalie performance, that could have been over in 4. The Flames dominated the Stars.
Im curious to see the final numbers for the the whole series. We outscored them by 1 goal in the end (15-14 I think), but to see all the underlying advanced metrics would be really interesting.

You do know that watching the game with your son has absolutely no effect on the outcome of a game correct? If you actually think this is a thing you need a straight jacket man.

Jarnkrok gets criticized a lot for his lack of any offensive finish so far, but his boardwork is incredible. He's tenacious on the puck and wins almost all the battles IMO.
He does do some bizarre things though. Why is he teeing up from the blue line? He was back there so often, it was so weird. Once he got in Kylingtons way and Kylington couldn’t walk the blue line like he wanted.
I don't think we should get all over dissentowner for being a ####ing lunatic. Lock your son in his room for the next 14 days. It worked. It sounds like science. I'll lock my 13 month old in her room if you guys think it's worthwhile.

Well done. Everyone giving you #### for this lacks common hockey knowledge that all superstitions matter. I mean if science mattered then Flames should have dominated those games. However, we had to appease the hockey gods, if locking an adult in his room works, I say do it every game till the cup is here! He is a big boy he gets it, thank him for holding his pee until after JG scored. We appreciate it.

I was really hoping he would be our "Nick Paul" of this series. Maybe next round. But yeah like Sutter said, it's not all just about points.
Side note: I am pretty stingy with 'thanks' but this is the first day I ran out of them, overall this game was so much to love. If we run out those Oilers in the next round, I know this won't be the first time.
edit: my bad typo
