I feel bad that I have yet to begin my search for common ground with the people who chanted breathlessly for jailing Trump’s political opponents, but I guess I was waiting for them to first accept the results of the presidential election. That was rude of me to think acknowledging reality should be a prerequisite for me to feel deeply concerned about the emotions of people who think Democrats rigged an election but forgot to rig it well enough to win back the U.S. Senate.

That was glorious.

For those having trouble keeping track:
Fox News -> NewsMax/OANN
YouTube -> BitChute
Twitter -> Parler/Gab
Facebook -/> (No Generally Accepted Replacement...Yet)
The latters in each case being very extreme versions of the former.

Considerably easier, cheaper and with a far more manageable logistics burden. It seems like a winner solution, to be honest.

One of the real silver linings of this is that it's now going to be much more mail in and early voting across the US.
Having elections on a workday that isn't a holiday always played into the hands of the slave states - the impoverished can't take the time off work to vote.
With states like California mailing ballots to every registered voter, the approach is going to spread throughout the US. Republicans know that the more votes that get cast, the less likely it is that the GOP can win (see Georgia and Stacy Abrams).
Now that early voting is going to be a norm, it's going to be harder and hard for Republicans to ignore and openly suppress the will of the American people (Background checks for guns, support of abortion rights, civil protections for refugees).
It's a bright day.

One thing that always blew me away was the concept of manual voter registration. As long as I have been able to vote the process has been automatic in Canada. I guess I really take that for granted.

According to Trump, it's cheating to help new voters register.

Biden needs to make it a priority to beef up security around mail-in voting. Not that it needs it, but to remove any shred of doubt. If mail-in becomes the norm that’s a huge boost to the Democrats and democracy in general.
Somehow I don’t think McConnell will support that though....

I think Trump wants to leverage his lawsuits and intransigence into some sort of deal, consisting of pardons and maybe a little financial benefit too.
Seeing as being unreasonable and belligerent has always led him to success, I bet he's holding out for one last deal. Hopefully, none is forthcoming and he's being met with threats from the Biden camp and Democrats instead.

Here are Biden's current leads, which continue to increase in PA, GA, and NV.
I think AR might actually flip back to Trump when all is and done, as Biden's lead keeps slipping.
PA: 45,595
GA: 10,676
AR: 16,976
NV: 38,186

Lost in all the election and lawsuit nonsense, Trump just fired his defense secretary.
https://www.cnn.com/2020/11/09/polit...per/index.html
Quote:
President Donald Trump announced on Twitter Monday that he has fired Secretary of Defense Mark Esper, and that Christopher Miller, who serves as director of the National Counterterrorism Center, will become acting secretary "effective immediately."
The President jettisoned Esper two days after his Democratic opponent Joe Biden was declared the projected winner of the presidential election, a conclusion that Trump has refused to accept.
Esper's increasingly tense relationship with Trump led him to prepare a letter of resignation weeks ago, an attempt to fashion a graceful exit in the widely expected event that the President decided to fire him, several defense sources, including one senior defense official, told CNN.
|
Quote:
Esper had been on shaky ground with the White House for months, a rift that deepened after he said in June that he did not support using active-duty troops to quell the large-scale protests across the United States triggered by the death of George Floyd at the hands of police. Esper also said military forces should be used in a law enforcement role only as a last resort.
His remarks from the Pentagon briefing room were seen by many as an effort to distance himself from Trump's threats to deploy the military to enforce order on American city streets and went over poorly at the White House, multiple people familiar with the matter said.
