You bought it from the iTunes Store, it should have a record of you buying it and not charging you again.
Failing that, make your own. Rename the file from .MP4 to .M4R and click and drag to iTunes.

Words can not describe how much I love this phone. I still am kicking myself for staying with Blackberry for so long because of BBM. The iphone destroys the blackberry in almost every category.

So Fido gave me a call tonight (20 minutes before closing, so I couldn't get there) and my 4s is ready. And I won't be able to get there until after work tomorrow. Ah well - at least the phones are starting to show up at the stores.

Honest question to current/former blackberry users: what can BBM do that text messages can't? I think that I heard that you can see when your recipient reads the message, but is there anything else? I often hear blackberry users talking about BBM, but when a text message can reach any cell phone user as opposed to just those on one system, I have personally wondered what is so special about BBM.
I realize that this is the iPhone thread, but as an iPhone user myself, I'm genuinely curious about the benefits of this BBM thingy.

You can update your status on BBM and have a profile picture and it makes sending dirty pictures to the girl who wants nothing to do with you a lot easier. Also makes stalking a lot easier. You can see if they read the message or not. D shows up for delivered and R for read.
I do miss BBM and will always wish I had it, but the iphone is just miles better in so many other categories I can not live without one now. I didn't even realize my blackberry is now useless for the internet.
Correct me if I'm wrong but would the internet work on an iphone through wifi if I had no plan?

Yes. When your on Wi-Fi you can do whatever. But the phone is crippled without a constant internet connection, IMO.(And any smartphone)

One more question for the fellow iPhone users: I am going from an old 3G to a 4s. The idea of simply backing up my 3G and "restoring" my settings and apps to the 4s sounds easy and appealing. Is this possible? Are there any disadvantages of doing so? Or advantages of starting fresh?

|
I found it surprisingly snappy on a 3GS, so on a 4 it should be fine. I would recommend a hard restart maybe (hold down home and lock buttons together until after the apple logo shows up and it powers down completely).

One big problem I know for people who use BB's is that many of their main contacts use them, so the lack of BBM makes the transition difficult. I only know one person (sister in law) who switched back to a BB from an iPhone because she was in oil and gas and all of her contacts relied on BBM.

Backing up will work, and it will also xfer your messages log and what not. But I always prefer starting fresh with a new device, and with a new operating system. I always feel it will work better. Might be wrong, but I fully recommend starting fresh! It's not a hassle to add everything back now either!

That's the way I always feel with a new computer. I am always hesitant to transfer settings over as it may also transfer some glitches, bloat, etc. Like you, I never know if there is any proof, but it just feels better starting fresh.
Test messages aren't important as I have had to delete most of them to keep my 3G from becoming completely useless, and all of my email, calendars, contacts are synced through IMAP, Exchange, etc. so it will just be a matter of entering in my login credentials again.
Thanks for the reassurance.

I went from a 3G to the 4s with no problems. The only thing I had to do was re-enter passwords (e.g. email & wifi).
It wouldn't have been a big deal to me if I had to start fresh, but it is nice that data from applications came over smoothly. For the most part, this was just a couple of games that it kept everything instead of resetting.

And performance, battery, etc. are all what you would expect? No strange crashes?

It would have to be, the phone doesn't classically multitask. There are no rogue processes or leftover bits of apps to keep running in the background chewing up battery.

From what I understand of iOS, the iTunes system works, how backups and updates are done, there is zero reason for you not to update.
Unless you get a kick out of replaying those levels of Angry Birds you already beat...

How odd you mention that. This morning I realized the biggest drawback of upgrading my phone is that my angry birds progress has been reset. It's going to take me so long to get back to where I was.

It was shocking how smooth it was. Hasn't crashed once. The phone works great on all fronts.
I had one minor app that has a problem (Lux), but doing a quick search online it seems the app itself is just buggy.

If you have a Mac, the app Phoneview (same company that makes printopia) will allow you to transfer your game data from one device to another so you don't have to start all over again. It's $20 and was recently offered in the Macupdate bundle last month.

I think the major reason i start fresh is I find over time I have a lot of crap on my phone that I never use, like just downloading random apps of the store. Restarting fresh allows me to pick and choose what I want, with as little clutter as possible.
