I stopped by Fido at Market Mall after work. Apparently they are given 5 or 6 a day to sell to walk-ups. Total number of reservations fulfilled to date: exactly 1. This afternoon.
Meanwhile, Future Shop and Best Buy in Northland had a bunch of Bell and Telus phones in all sizes and colours.

You can add the weather app from the settings for notifications, you don't need to be jailbroken. The weather was automatically there on my phone.

Riddle me this CP: How can I iMessage an Apple ID that just uses an iPad on my iPhone, but when I got to iMessage them on my iPad, it says they aren't registered for iMessage?

Are the entries the same in the Contacts app for both? Maybe the iPad copy of the contact doesn't have an email address entry?

Of course, Apple folks don't mind showing off, so I suppose it will be brought into the mainstream.

I'd have the same problem..I mumble when talking to machines like customer support lines and such because I'm embarrassed to be talking to a computer.

Just scream "I want to talk to a person" into your phone over and over and it normally works pretty good.
Sadly, that kind of defeats the purpose of Siri.

This or GlaDOS would be pretty amazing. I imagine Apple could make some good money selling new voices.

I've actually stopped caring about the discussion, to be honest. It's at the point now where neither your opinion nor mine will be swayed by what the other has to say. It's at the point where civil discourse has the potential to turn into random crap-slinging and I'd rather avoid that.
I think people are going to look like idiots speaking commands in full sentences to their phones, and I feel that I can access the data I want faster through manual inputs than by speaking voice commands. I value the concept of "as much as necessary, as little as possible". You feel otherwise. There's not much else to say.

Here is your problem you "feel". Russic provided hard evidence that doing a task was sped up using Siri and you fail acknowledge it and then back up your argument with "people look stupid talking to their phones"
Sure people may look stupid but in some instances thus far Siri has proven to be more then a gimick and quicker to do certain tasks then doing those same tasks manually.
All you have to do is nod your head and say "I was wrong, but I still don't feel like Siri would benefit my life although it does have valuable uses."
I look forward to hearing more about Siri as the masses start to utilize it and it gets developed more by Apple
Since getting the reminders on my iphone 4 I wish I had Siri to set up reminders for me. They are handy but I can see myself stopping to use them because I have to type it in. If I could just say it and be done with it I could micro manage my life and it would be great!

This should be so easy to find, but I can't find it on google. Does IOS 5.0 have group messaging like BBM?
It says it does, but I can't find it in my settings.....

Actually, Siri works by just bringing your phone up to your ear and talking like you would on any other normal phone call, so the whole "people look stupid talking to their phones" argument is complete bunk.
I also imagine somebody thought people looked pretty stupid riding horses for the first time too, but it sure turned out to be a pretty good idea. Considering how some people react to progress, I'm amazed we ever managed to climb out of the ocean.
"Man, I can't believe this new lung thing that Bob just developed. Like really? Are people so lazy now that they can't process water through their gills anymore? Man, they're sure going to look like idiots walking around up there on that beach. Next thing you know, some ###### will start rubbing a couple sticks together or something... Hey, where'd everyone go?"

My face is a bum!
|
2 questions.
1. I lost my Super Mario Bros ringtone. How do I get it back without paying again!?!? Stupid Marimba.
2. My phone froze this morning (iPhone 4) taking a picture. I restarted it. Now it's slow as balls. Anyone else finding iOS 5 super slow on an iPhone 4?

Btw, I'm not sure I've seen anyone else comment it, but I'm sure diggin the new Newstand app. I've already downloaded a few magazines in it and even purchased a 6 month subscription to Web Designer Magazine for $29.
The mags themselves are nowhere near as good as they could be (I'm talking about iOS feature use, not magazine content), but they should get there eventually. In the meantime, I enjoy having them all in one app now, and a simple subscription process.
