I'd be okay with Tkachuk+ going in the Eichel trade. I think we could keep Monahan and hope he turns it around, flip him for a winger or draft pick when Eichel is ready to go. That way we're not selling him ultra low value. I just don't think Tkachuk fits the Sutter system, he's skilled but slow as molasses and struggles to forecheck.

If Tkachuk going the other way means the + is greatly reduced, I might entertain it.

It also makes the upgrade to the top 6 reduced. Eichel brings maybe 20 more points than Tkachuk does, albeit at the much more important position.

You'd also have to be CERTAIN Johnny will re-sign.

Geez, again not a lot of hockey knowledge here….. Dube’s ceiling is 2 center, the bigger piece is that he doesn’t gut our center position to make us a lottery team.

How do you figure? Everything I’ve read about the procedure says that almost everyone has a full recovery. How is it a “good chance” a 24 year old professional athlete doesn’t?

We are talking major neck surgery where there is a handful of elite athletes that have come back to be as dominant as previous….. have their been 20? Have we heard about athletes who haven’t? We need to consider that as a real option

I like Dube as much as any one. But drawing the line at Dube for Eichel is what GMs that won't ever win anything in the NHL do.
