Are you sure? They seemed to be whistling down icing when they reached the faceoff circle.

Instead of no-touch icing, where play is stopped as soon as the puck crosses the goal line, a hybrid system will be used where officials determine whether icing should be waved off based on which player would reach the puck first, using the faceoff dots as a reference point.

BC's defense was awful and they turned over the puck about 100 times. Some of that was Union, some of that was just poor defense. They deserved the win.

I just finished watching the game that I PVR. Boston College looks out of sync and most the goals they allowed was because of the mistakes. Demko missing the puck with his glove. The puck was actually going way up and no need to try to stop it. But I guess it is goaltender's habit to try to catch the puck. Union's 4th goal was also a bad mistake. First defenseman gave up the puck on their zone. Then when the goalie made the great save but couldn't corral the puck. The puck ended up on a stick of a wide open Union player. The defenseman who supposed to cover him followed the other D behind the net.
I thought Kevin Hayes was awful in that game. Way too many times he tried the pass the puck instead of shooting it. So basically the play died once the puck goes to Hayes. Bill Arnold was pretty good with the faceoff and Gaudreau was slick and I like what i've seen.
Too bad BC Eagles lost but Union played well.
