I'm sure it's been explained in one of the Gaudreau dedicated or related threads, but maybe someone can explain what contract options are available to the Flames-Gaudreau and the impact of him playing this season for the Flames if he signs. How many years is his ELC for (3 like usual)? If he signs a contract this year and plays for the Flames that takes up a year of his contract, correct (even if it's just a single game)? Is there a way that he could sign a contract effective next season and play this year?
No. It is only icing if the team who ices it has no chance at the puck.
Edit: oops thought you meant hybrid icing. But they don't use no touch icing anyways.
I dont think so, I think the CHL still uses no-touch or 'automatic' icing which means it's icing no matter what. It's not unreal to think that College and CHL use the same icing rules, hence the confusion.
Am I the only one refreshing Twitter and CP every 5 minutes hoping Gaudreau has signed?
Surely it would be at least an hour right? BC would be wrapping up their season and talking in the locker room before the Flames can even get in touch?
The NCAA icing rule isn't exactly the same as the NHL rule. They use the blue line as the line to race for... and the team that iced it has to be clearly going to win the race or else it is icing.
(didn't see the play in this game to judge)
This one wasn't close. It was like the entire BC team forgot they had to win the race to get the icing. The Union player was well behind everyone.
