No kidding, he basically put himself in the exact same situation on Saturday night, fortunately with much less severe consequences.

ESPN's Adam Schefter has confirmed Carlson agreed to a five-year deal worth $25 million during a visit Wednesday.
Carlson is a Minnesota native and figures to team with fellow Notre Dame alumnus Kyle Rudolph to form a potent set of pass-catching tight ends. One of general manager Rick Spielman's top goals is to surround young quarterback Christian Ponder with more playmakers in the passing game, and that can be accomplished through the addition of a tight end as easily as a wide receiver.
The question on Carlson is his health, which the Vikings presumably checked out in great detail before finalizing Wednesday's agreement. He missed all of last season with the Seattle Seahawks because of a torn labrum, and he hasn't played since suffering a scary concussion during the Seahawks' 2010 divisional playoff game at Soldier Field.
It was the third concussion Carlson has suffered in his football career

Yikes thats a big committment to a guy who is a "maybe".

Colts officially sign former Ravens DE Cory Redding. He knows Pagano really well. Good signing in the 3-4 defense.

Colts and Eagles also made a deal: Winston Justice to the Colts and the teams swapped 6th round picks.
Also, Freeney will not be traded. Good to see Mathis, Freeney, and Redding in the 3-4 scheme.
Just wish Dallas Clark would have stayed. Oh well.

Wow. I can't believe a team was willing to take him. Cap dump for the Eagles (saves them $4.2 mil), and the guy is basically useless.

Eagles actually save about 2.3 in cap space. 1.9 not included because of accelerated proration.
But yeah, he seems nothing special at all.

I understand signing Carlson since Musgrave plays a ton of 2-TE sets. The term is something I can't figure out.

Whoops, yeah I should have said salary. I'm just surprised the Colts gave up anything for him because he likely could've been had on a cheaper contract once the Eagles released him. But yeah, he's pretty much been a bust. He was supposed to be the franchise LT when he was drafted but couldn't be trusted to protect anyone's blindside, so they moved him to RT when McNabb was still there. Now we have a left-handed QB and cheaper depth RTs on the roster so there's no need for him.
Plus the whole Umenyiora thing...

What teams are in need of a TE?
Jacob Tamme is a solid TE and I think whoever lands him makes a solid move.

I was kind of surprised the Giants went with Bennett over him. Maybe the'll still bring him in.

Rumor has the Pats signing DL Jonathon Fanene from the Bungals...not a bad signing if true. Depth Player on the line and good run stuffer.
http://espn.go.com/boston/nfl/story/...cording-source
Also close to signing Brandon Lloyd as well...however with the big $$$ thrown at receivers may have changed things.

Brandon Carr to Dallas 5yrs/$50M. Christ, that's a lot of money for a second pairing CB.

Colts and Redskins are the 2 teams that are super interested in Eagles offensive lineman Evan Mathis. From what I have seen, he is a pretty solid player but I admit I have only seen him play 3-4 times.
Read a bit on him though and the reviews are pretty good.

Baltimore apparently is really interested and are meeting with Mathis tonight.

I was a little concerned with how much money the 49ers gave Carlos Rogers...until I saw how much money Carr and Finnegan got.
And Carl Nicks isn't to pleased about what some Saints fans have had to say.
