Interesting. It sounded like Buffalo was offering him a monstrous contract. Its just speculation, but it could be the biggest contract ever for a defensive player if the rumors are true. I've watched most of Mario's games in his career and he simply isn't worth that much. Great player, but not elite.

A source told FOXSports.com that Winston was cut under the “failed physical” designation by the Texans. Winston, though, told FOXSports.com that the billing stems from his having undergone arthroscopic ankle surgery in February.

In a text message, Winston said he will be medically cleared in two weeks. Winston also said he would be fully healed by now had he undergone the minor procedure in January.

Man I love Reggie Wayne. He always said that staying in Indy was his first choice and that it was the Colts who had not contacted him. Once they did, it was an easy choice for him. Nice to have him back in the fold. At least Luck will have Wayne and Collie to throw to.
Also, former Ravens DE Redding is close to signing with the Colts.

He's so incredibly talented but his motor just isn't there 100% of the time. Put him up against Indy/Pittsburgh and he is a terror. Put him up against lesser teams and the production tails off because he just doesn't get himself into the game. Also, you have to consider that he's played almost every single season of his career severely banged up for various reasons. It's admirable that he plays through them all but his career seems destined to break down prematurely.
With that said, these risks should be worth it to a team like Chicago as he could mean the difference between contending for the playoffs and being a legit contender for the Super Bowl. Buffalo is going to get burned badly if he ends up there.
Feel bad for Eric Winston being cut. He's been a great Texan for many years and is loved in the lockerroom and the community. If Myers and Brisiel aren't re-signed asap, the Texans might be in a bit of a pinch when it comes to putting a serviceable OL on the field.

Bucs sign CB Eric Wright to a 5 year contract... And the Carl Nicks deal is expected to be done this morning.
New coaches, new attitude, some big name free agent signings... Exciting time to be a Bucs fan.

Hate how he's probably staying within the division. But considering the Falcons were also a favourite in the Nicks sweepstakes, I'm just happy he's not going there.
Interesting to see if the Saints are able to land Grubbs out of Baltimore as a replacement, who they've been pushing hard for. They've been a lot more active in FA than I thought they'd be so far, still jacked my Colston jersey isn't out of date.

Brandon Marshall in trouble again for off-field shenannigans, wonder if it had anything to do with the trade. Yeesh, what a mess...
Quote:
The New York Post reports Bears WR Brandon Marshall "slugged" a woman at a Chelsea nightclub early last Sunday morning.
The incident allegedly started as a fight between Marshall and another football player. Marshall ended up "cold-cocking" the woman in the left eye, though it's not clear if the punch was meant for her or was misdirected in the melee. During the donnybrook, Marshall's wife was hit in the face by a thrown bottle. It's not known that the Dolphins knew about the incident prior to the Marshall trade. Per FOX Sports' Alex Marvez, Marshall's contract clause guaranteeing $6 million of his $9.3 million salary voids if he's suspended by the NFL. Given his long and sordid history of violence, that's a distinct possibility.

Two distinctly different stories coming out about the Marshall incident. Both involve his wife taking a bottle to the face though. One paints Marshall as a willing participant (no, not the New York Post!) the other as a guy trying to get himself and his wife out of a very bad situation.
Will be interesting to see which is closer to the truth.

Ya I've been reading into it further and there definitely is 2 sides forming, the other being that him and some friends were just in the wrong place at the wrong time and he was trying to get out of the situation.
Unfortunately for someone with previous troubles, "Brandon Marshall" and "bar brawl" doesn't look very good initially, whether he was directly involved or not. I suppose we'll find out the true story in upcoming days, hopefully for him its the latter.

Two re-signings this morning:
Both Jags DE Jeremy Mincey and Eagles DE Trent Cole have signed four-year extensions with their teams. Good on the Jags. I think Mincey is going to be a good player for a long time.
And Trent Cole might be my favourite Eagles so I'm glad he's sticking around for another four years.

Its too bad about Mincey. I had high hopes the Bears were going to win that bid war

There are also other reports that had Williams leaving a Buffalo medical facility. That sounds to me like a physical.

Based on the club that he was at I'm absolutely stunned that he got into any trouble. I mean nothing ever happens at Marquee, the most d-bag filled bar in the entire city. I like that his attorney called it a "function" though, that made me chuckle.

(yes, that's a shot at Jackson's new contract)

Unfortunately for him tho...there is a pattern of this kind of behaviour.
When someone continually finds themselves in those situations, its time to look in the mirror....regardless of guilt or not.

Marshall is so frustrating, he's one of my favorite players but off the field he makes too many bad decisions and always ends up in these situations.
I wonder if his issues stem from the Darrent Williams shooting, I remember reading an article about how he blamed himself for the shooting because he was involved in the argument at the bar
He's one of the best athletes I've ever watched, he's one of the most skilled recievers of all time imo. I remember the game when he had 20 catches, such a beast. If he wasn't so immature he'd be at another level. Always seems to be the story with talents WRs

Agreed. He just can't put himself in those situations.
You would think he would understand that after what happened in Denver with Darrent Williams.
