Got my wife's phone updated and set up stuff so she can send me iCloud meeting invites. I get to work today and go to add them into my Outlook Calendar and I can't get it to show up in my calendar.

I open the iCal attachment and I cant accept, add to calendar or send a response.

Any ideas? I am assuming it is because we share our iTunes account and it is in my name, so it is thinking that I dont need to add it, even though my work email is not associated with my iTunes account at all.

Anyone that reserved a phone through Fido hear anything yet? My infant son had me up at 4:00 on the reservation date, and I was 500-or-so in line in all of Canada. Ever since then my status has said "in progress" but no emails or anything from Fido.

It sounds like I would have had better luck just walking up to the store. I'm not in a total hurry, but why allow someone to reserve a phone if they are being sold freely to walk-ups?

Meanwhile, my sister was around 2500 (2000 back from me) on the list and is now down to around 400. (Edit: and that is for the same phone model at the same Fido store).

I was #689 on the Fido list but yesterday it changed to In Progress. Haven't heard anything more yet but I'm guessing it should ship this week. I agree that it would have been easier to just buy it in store. I thought because I am using Fido dollars to buy it I might need to buy through Fido, but now that I've done more research it sounds like any other store would be able to use those for my purchase as well. In three years when I upgrade to the iPhone 7 I'll try to remember this lesson.

I was in the 300's for my order. I even got the arrival notification from UPS but Rogers mysteriously still hasn't given me a call. I'm not exactly sure how the process works, but it seems strange. Was my reservation unit given to somebody else? Was my tracking number for somebody else's unit? Regardless I just walked into a Futureshop and they set me up just as any Rogers would have. I just have to wait for my reservation unit to come in so I can have them send it back so I can get my $40 deposit back.

I did not think I would use Siri as much as I have been.

Had a vet appt they needed to reschedule to 11am.

One Button press: "Siri, change my appointment on Saturday to 11AM"

"Confirm change?"

"Yes"

and done. More then a gimmick in my book

Agreed. It just seems that most people who are in possession of this phone (online or otherwise) did so by walking up to the counter, and without much trouble. Meanwhile, people who were willing to put a $40 deposit down to avoid the lineups are still waiting.

Granted, we're only a few days into it here, but it seems that the reservations system is flawed and/or my expectation of being somehow prioritized is equally as flawed.

Does anyone know how to turn off the imessage tone on an ipad2? I joined a group chat and it is getting slightly ridiculous. I checked in tones as well as settings/message and nothing

MY 4S finally arrived this morning. Huge step up over my 3GS, The speed is fantastic.

Have had some fun playing with Siri today not sure how much i will actually use it, maybe when driving.

Overall I am impressed so far.

You're misunderstanding. The 3 seconds is to call Siri and speak the sentence and have it deliver on the request. The 1 second is the time it takes to tap 'Weather'.

I don't know, I suppose it is what you make of it. I'd rather use my phone as little as possible, and speaking to it in complete sentences to quickly get information I want seems counter-productive to that goal.

You're right, I did misunderstand however it doesn't take 1 second to turn on your iPhone, swipe to open it, enter a 4 digit passcode and then swipe down to get the notification section (or activate the app). As mentioned before weather is a unique example as it's something Apple has brought to the top layer of the notification section. It's probably the only thing siri does that doesn't result in a savings of time. I don't know what else to say here...

I caved. Bought an unlocked 4S this morning.

Before trying the phone, I mostly said Siri was gimmicky. I will leave some impressions after some use.....

I picked up the 4S on Friday morning by just walking into a store. It was very easy.

I am slowly coming around to Siri. I am finding more and more little uses for it as I use it more.

I'll probably use it for text messages. I send so few of them, that dictating it is much faster than opening the app, selecting the contact, and typing the message. I am really surprised on the accuracy of the text. I work with someone who has worked on developing voice recognition before. He gave me some of the tricky words that are often mistakes, but Siri got them right.

I thought Siri would be gimmicky when I first heard about it, but the usability is so strong that I might use it much more than anticipated.

If you create a group chat in iMessage and then start texting, is there any way to add new people in to the same chat? Or do you have to create a whole new one?

Is it under Settings -> General -> Sounds -> Text Tone? I think that's what you want. I could be wrong though.

The idea of your iPad dinging randomly like it has tourette's has me laughing a bit though.

I gave the 4S a try today and I was impressed with Siri. It would definitely be handy for creating appointments without going through the typical motions of dealing with iCal or the app. I'd love for it to not have to resort to web searches as much. Also, if we could somehow get Majel Barrett-Roddenberry's voice it would be perfect.

The speed bump from a 4 to a 4S isn't enough for me to want to upgrade though. If you have a 3G or a 3GS it's definitely worth the upgrade.

Nothing lol. He clearly hasn't used it, hasn't responded to my comments about it being a different, not necessarily faster method of human-computer interaction, and is just fixated on some artificial measure of speed. The fact that tons of people are reporting that they enjoy Siri, that it works well, and that they are using it to create reminders, calendar entries, find stuff, etc (and probably using those kind of productivity aids more than they did previously, which is ultimately the BIGGEST benefit of Siri - capturing and working with data that people otherwise never bothered with because the data entry was a pain) is lost on him.

There's still the problem of looking like an idiot talking to your phone. When I'm alone at work, I constantly use Android's voice features, especially the dictation, but if someone else is in the room... its typing for me. Even though I know I could say "year that the Raiders moved back to Oakland" faster than I can type it, I feel like I just look like I'm showing off every time I use voice commands in front of people. Of course, Apple folks don't mind showing off, so I suppose it will be brought into the mainstream.

Is there a way to show the weather on the lock screen using IOS5; my wife tells me that one of her colleagues has it, but I can't get it to show up on my 3GS
