All you have to do is look at some of the notable teams like Winnipeg that didn't make it last year, or some teams that went far last year, Ottawa, who aren't going to make it.
Don't get me wrong, generally the really good teams find a way to rise up, but the 2nd tier of teams can just as easily make it as miss and it doesn't really mean you've taken the step back it would have likely meant a decade ago.

It's true, especially when the Flames made it in under Hartley - that was an incredibly low point total necessary to do it that year.

*Facepalm* MacKinnon was playing with garbage teammates and is still growing as a player. So yes, what you just said sounds very stupid, like thinking moving a guy to another side will fix his bad decision making, positioning, and being physically owned every shift.

Flames players can afford to go to Las Vegas and golf the last two weeks of April. The Golden Knights won't be looking for tee times till at least May.

The way this season is ending we might as well sign him for the last few games to have something to feel good about.

We NEED a lottery pick for this 2018 draft. This draft is franchise CHANGING for a couple teas. Maybe even 3 or 4 teams are gonna get a real bigtime super star player

Which ARZ player is due for a hat-trick against the Flames tomorrow? Seems like we're givin' them away for free now.

We’ll keep using your revisionist history then. I think we bring in a coach who will let him play to his strengths, he’ll be a damn good player again.

We have no coach, he never reacts to anything happening on ice. Pulling obivously rushed-back starter who is struggling in 3rd out of last 4 games when we are playing for our lives seems obvious after he lets in 4 goals in the second. But not in this franchise with this coach. We will just stick to our looser plan, because it works!

Bingo.
Nashville almost missed and squeezed into 8th last year. Winnipeg, Dallas, L.A. and Tampa all missed the playoffs. Vegas didn’t exist.
New coaching staff, get more speed in the bottom 6, and promote some of the young talent (Andersson, Kylington, Mangiapane).
This team likely isn’t as far off as it feels right now and the worst thing they could do would be selling low on guys.

Remember when Brodie played great with Stone in the playoff push last year? Gulutzan does not remember. Sad times in Flames fan nation.

You basically described Justin Schultz Post-Kreuger / Pre-Sullivan. And Brodie's peak was higher.
And I don't really care about "everybody on this board". I make my own opinion with my eyes not whatever is the flavour of the day here.

Actually it is true this year has been the lowest my interest has been in this team for a long time it's at the point where I don't even care if I can't watch a game, which for me is unheard of.
