I want to see Iggy retire a Flame, but he won't do it here, so rather he get rented out to an East Coast team for a run. Get a cup and ride off into the sunset with the Flames the next season after a one day contract.

One thing is for sure, I expect about 1 million articles on Iginla coming back to Calgary (or not) from now until the trade deadline.

My guess is that if it does happen, a large chunk of the 48% are going to feel more excited than disappointed anyways.

When he was a FA, Colorado probably gave him simply the best offer.
So fast forward to today, he's a deadline deal with a NMC. So I think his thinking is the same as before - what teams are likely to go deep. Edmonton's out. Calgary is iffy. I'm looking East if I'm him. Or maybe Anaheim.

Please don't choose the iffy Iggy!!

Another way that I like to look at this... come playoff time (if Calgary makes it), say Brouwer gets injured. Who would you rather have in his place? Linden Vey, or Iginla?

So far I've seen 2.
They can be both boiled down to: "I know it doesn't make sense... but what if. WHAT IF."
I expect everything else to be along those lines.

So you want to sign Jarome Iginla as an injury depth player? I guess he sits on the bench otherwise?

I'd take Vey. Iginla is only as good as his scoring is, and he has lost the zip in his shot. Vey can at least play some defense and isn't a total liability on the ice. Iginla is one of the worst players in the league right now. You really need to watch a few Colorado games this year. It is crazy how bad the wheels have come off.

Solid read from Jim Rutherford regarding why he acquires certain players

Wow, the guy's on a different team now and all of a sudden he's that worst player in the NHL .
I decided to look at his stats, because according to a number of people on this forum he must be playing 5 minutes a game and be a -20 or something. I see that he's played in every game so far and averaging over 15 minutes/game and while, yes, his point totals aren't great, he is only a -3 on the season.
Vey stat line is 4 games played at 11 minutes per and a -2.
I think I'll take a shot with the 600+ goal scorer if choosing between those two.

No one is saying he's the worst player in the NHL. Iginla is an againg vet whose best years are behind him. Fans will be disappointed when they get to see how much of his game is gone. It will be like a bad nightmare seeing him on the 4th line.

I simply don't agree. No one is foolish enough to assume we are getting the same Iginla that we traded 4 years ago when he was already 35 years old. The nostalgia for me is seeing him play his last few games in the sweater he wore the majority of his career. To get the proper send off from the fanbase that he means so much to.
If Calgary is in the playoffs and he gets to give it one last push with the team he came oh so close to winning with 13 years ago I say let's do it even if he is not a regular in the lineup.

This makes about as much sense as bring in Dany Heatley.

Because Heatley played in Calgary for nearly his entire career?
Because Heatley came within 1 goal of winning the cup for the Flames?
Because the fans in Calgary love Dany Heatley?
Because people in general think Dany Heatley is a good person?
Because Heatley is one of the premier goal scorers of his generation?
Not to mention he doesn’t even play in the NHL anymore nor was Heatley even comparable to Iginla in terms of skill, grit or determination at any point in his career.
I get you’re trying to be funny, but Heatley? Blah.
