I don’t really know how to judge this trade. It looks like Yegor has slipped down the depth chart in New Jersey. Does he have more to give, I think yes, is fair to say. Calgary, is obviously looking at this as a player they can lock up for the next 2-3years, will see how he develops and go from there. The draft pick is something that really just adds more youth to the system, you hope it pans out.

I would say the initial trade looks meh ( real scientific grading system) but has the potential in two years to be a great trade and we are having discussions on how much his next contract will be and can we fit it under the cap.

The versatility will be very useful. I like players that can play up and down the lineup. Gives Huska options and also the ability to find what line Sharongovich fits in.

Toffoli was their leading scorer because he had a career year and other guys had terrible years

I wouldn't really call him the Flames leading scorer like it was likely to happen again

I think you're living in la la land if you think that Zadorov is worth more than Duclair. Z was a good soldier for us, but if we can get Duclair for him that's a great trade for CGY.

Interesting that he played in the KHL, went to the AHL for a while, went back to the KHL, and then came back.

I would be surprised if the Flames trade Zadorov, I think that is a player they really want to keep.

Imagine if he didn’t hit the post as many times as he did. Would of been 50, that would of gotten us Hughes for sure.

Believe that was while the AHL was shut down due to Covid. He came back to NA and made the Devils out of camp.

I’m sort of surprised the flames leading goal scorer could only garner a playoff healthy scratch and a mid round pick. I thought toffoli would be worth more even with just 1 year left. He looked great last year.

He had max opportunity with top line duty and PP1 because he was one of 2 or 3 guys willing to be soldiers for Sutter.

He's a decent, slow, shoot-first top 6 forward any other year/situation.

That said, they probably could've squeezed a little more to capitalize off his great season.

I've seen worse first trades by a GM though.

The thing that sustains is the zero percent chance the Oilers can win the Stanley Cup.
