Out of that list, I'd say built-in wireless is the only real kicker. The wireless adapter for the Xbox is still $100.

So other than that there's no real difference between the two systems? (besides the byzantine specs under the hood and exclusive games)

Well I was looking into getting one and started noticing that the price was coming down, now I know why. I think I will hold off for now and get the new one.

The 360 still has an hdmi cable included, as well as a headset that the ps3 does not.

They are actually much closer than they used to be. I feel personally that the ps3 was the better deal when the 360 was missing some key features included (wireless controller, hdmi). Now that those features are included, I feel the gap has shrunk a bit.
You did miss something.

For a guy like me who's a Wii gamer, that's a big deal breaker. An extra $100 bucks for the adapter for wireless controllers and then the controllers themselves?

Crazy.

I can't imagine playing games with cord controllers anymore.

lol, oh ya, I guess I did forget about that. To be fair, I think a lot of RROD issues have been resolved. In addition, I only have 2 friends with ps3's ... both have died on them and both have had to be sent away at their own expense ($150) for repairs. The one guy bought a ps3 because his 360 died due to a non RROD error, so he had to pay as well. Poor basterd.

How about the PS3 hard drive can be upgraded with any 2.5" drive unlike the 360 where MS gouges your eyes and take your left nut for a hard drive upgrade with their proprietary HD's.

Does anybody know if and/or when the new Final Fantasy game is coming out? That might be my only reason for buying a PS3 as I already have a Blu-Ray drive in my computer.

Ah Nintendo...the epidemy of reliability. They should just change their motto to "Go ahead. Bomb our s**t."

Wireless is for wireless internet. Not controllers.

Also Xbox works with Harmony Remotes, PS currently does not.

Oh I've read it. I'm certainly not saying the failure rates are higher on the ps3, far from it. I'm merely saying that the ps3 isn't as iron-clad as I once thought. Just trying to be fair.

I agree with you; I thought they were fail proof earlier on. 10% is still a high rate of failure IMO. Also, the sample size was only 5000 people, and the method they used is questionable, but if that is the Xbox 360 failure rate, it's hard to stomach.

Another thing interesting - based on sales "from launch" to the point the system is in the cycle, the PS3 is a couple million consoles ahead of Microsoft. This is at a higher price point, and without a large price cut. I'm interested to see how much of an impact this has on the economics of the video game industry. I don't believe Sony will catch Nintendo in terms of systems sold, but I'm willing to bet they expand on their "from launch" figure, and close the total gap between them and Microsoft.

It would appear as though the $299 price is confirmed for Canada! If you're on the fence this would be a good time to get into the mix.

I think the Xbox failure rate is higher than 50%, because honestly, everyone I know, and their friends, all have 360's and we're all on our 2nd, 3rd, 6th for me.

Just when I though they solved the RROD problem, my disc drive is starting to go (making weird sounds it shouldn't), and I am out of warranty.

I still believe the 360 failure rate is in the 80's, and within time everyone's will break until their new console.

Just curious; have you repurchased additional Xbox 360 units?

Also, if your console fails again (now that it is out of warranty), will you purchase a PS3?

I'd consider my 360 to be a failed system - I haven't experienced a RROD or the E74 error, but the amount of games and frequency of the dirty disc error message makes it unacceptable.
