Hilarious how some fans view a players value. 10 games into next season he has 10pts people will say he is worth a 1st +
Presumably, other teams knew Farabee was available when Briere moved him to Calgary. Looking at how cheaply the Flames got Farabee + Frost (cap dump + tweener + 2nd), Farabee at that cap hit couldn't have had much perceived value in the market.

The Flyers did prioritize getting cap relief as part of their deal. I just heard Friedman say that a lot of teams fans are upset how cheap the Kraken just acquired Marchment. The cap dump was a rental they flipped so it was 2nd, 3rd, tweener who was a former first rounder and ppg AHL player.

I don’t think the Flames would just be able to dump the money and get some value back but he could definitely have some value where salary is being exchanged both ways.

Value of the player and the strategy of the GM factor in this as well. I have said many times that the Flames value the return in the trade over increasing the value of their 1st by making trades sooner. Briere has shown he thinks the same way I do.

Flyers after the trade

10-15-4. Not a ton worse, but worse after the trade. They get 6th pick by taking action in January rather than March. They dumped Kuzmenko too.

6-11-2 after the trade deadline.

Maybe the could have got more, but they got 6th pick by taking action earlier.. They could have got 12th pick if the waited to trade Frost and Farabee in the summer when the cap was going up and their value might increase with extra cap space.

I do prefer Briere's strategy, but maybe Conroy flips Farabee for good value 5 month later.

Last year the Flames traded Zadorov and Lindholm way before the deadline, and only really waited until the last minute on Hanifin.

So Conroy took this approach too.

Flames know they only have 8 spots to play wingers on the team right?

Tanner Jeannot?

What pressing need does that solve?

Size. It comes with the expectation of post season grind.

Look at the Flames on wing right now

Huberdeau, Coronato, Sharangovich, Farabee, Coleman. 5 wingers, 4 left shots, making 10.5, 6.5, 5.75, 5, 4.9M.

Klapka, Pospisil signed so that leaves 1 more spot and likely that is Zary who the team is likely going to use on the wing.

If the Flames are adding wingers there will be some on the way out.

Maybe i am slow but im only counting 8 there and see 4 free slots? Or do you just mean lw

Never mind that Coleman absolutely should be moved now that his nmc clause is done. A soon to be 34 year old winger with good trade value on a team with almost no chance of winning a cup
