My guess they are all 3 resigned,
Would not be surprised if all 3 are less than the market value

They currently have 19 million in cap space.
Bennett will take up 8 million, Ekblad likely similar.
They would then have 3 million to sign 2 forwards, 1 d-man and a backup. The math isn't mathing really and that's with both Bennett and Ekblad signing somewhat team friendly deals.
|
Evan Rodrigues, is moved, saves 3m
That provides 22m in cap space,
Other moves will need to be done,
Teams are going to resign players, as the UFA class is really lacking IMO.
Stars already, started the process

Considering we have a shortage of C and a surplus of W, makes no sense to sent a C to get another W.
Has to be a W going back. Farabee (upstate ny guy)/Zary/Popisil are guys I could see them having interest in . Sharky had modified ntc so Buffalo probably on it.

Yuck.
We give up from our weak center depth and give 2 really good picks to sign a left shot winger to be our second highest paid forward?

Agreed but Sharky’s NTC kicks in on July 1 correct (or did they change the rule the clause kicks in once the extension is signed)?
Farabee makes a lot more sense as the piece going back.

Playing around with how Florida can go for a 3rd Cup and block out Edmonton again, and how we can help.
To CGY: 2026 2nd round pick, 2027 2nd round pick, 2028 1st round pick
To FLA: Andersson (50% retained, FLA extends $8Mx8)
Bennett: 8M AAV, 8 Years
Marchand: 6M AAV, 4 Years
Verhaeghe - Barkov - Reinhart
Rodrigues - Bennett - Tkachuk
Marchand - Lundell - Loustarinen
Greer - Boqvist - Samoskevich
Forsling - Andersson
Mikkola - Jones
Balinskis - Kulikov
Bobrovsky
League Minimum back-up
Gadjovich
League minimum 7th defenceman

If not wanting to be in Buffalo is being a pouty-pants, then Stanley Cup Champions Jack Eichel and Samson Reinhart are mega pouty-pants.

Getting out from the Sharky contract and brining in Petkera at the same time would be amazing and a miracle !

Flames need to worry about how they are building a winner not helping Florida anymore . We’ve helped them WAY too much
A 2028 late first isn’t playing best case / if you actually hit on a player until 2031/32

It's a bounty of draft capital though, which Conroy can then use to do whatever he wants with it. No reason why he has to wait to make that pick in 2028, it could be used at any point between now and then to acquire an impact player (which is what Conroy is really after)
It's a good value return, and in line with what players in Rasmus' position have gone for.

I'm probably one of Sharangovich's biggest detractors, but the Flames have time with him. He could bounce back, and become a useful Flame long-term or he could bounce back and become a trade asset. Flames have no reason to take the L on that deal (yet).

That 1st is way too deferred imo. Rather just send him to a team for a nearby first and a couple seconds.

Andersson to Nashville.

He wants out of the cesspool that is Buffalo, he's made it known to management.
Cant blame him really.

I think this is a Buffalo problem more so than a player problem.
Every guy that goes there ends up wanting out and then the media flips on them and says they have attitude/entitlement issues. Buffalo is toxic.

Except Farabee has little value. He was a cap dump in the Philly trade. And he didn't have a good year.
I expect many teams would beat that proposal.
The player they would want is Coronato, and he isn't being traded.

Depends if Buffalo liked Farabee before last season.
That ownership group has liked bringing local guys that want to be there to help build a culture and Farabee is from Syracuse.
Wouldn't be the main piece of a deal but I could see him being part of it. Prior to last season he was pretty consistently a 20 goal per 82 game guy.

Farabee+18+26 2nd? A bunch of teams want to beat that go ahead.
Farabee is one season removed from his second 20 goal season and hitting 50pts as a 23/24 year old but he has no value because of one off year?
Hilarious how some fans view a players value. 10 games into next season he has 10pts people will say he is worth a 1st +
I don’t really want Peterka on the Flames anyway.

GMs do this too, look at Yzerman paying an asset to get rid of Walman last year after a bit of a down year.
I feel like most mistakes are made by GMs when they either over value or under value a player based on one seasons performance instead of looking at their career.
Especially for a player in that 24-27 age range.

I don’t think there’s any chance FLA move Lundell. An elite two-way shutdown C, just starting to enter his prime, who has shows he’s more than capable of playing #2C, signed long-term at $5m, is just too valuable to let go.
The Panthers are looking to take more runs at the Cup over the next couple seasons. They’re not going to make moves that make their roster worse. And Luostarinen has a very manageable $3 mil cap hit for the next two seasons.
Andersson would be a good fit with FLA if they let Ekblad walk. So there’s the basis of a deal there in the short term. But can FLA fit in Andersson’s next deal after this season? Maybe Luostarinen at $3 mil is more valuable to them than Andersson at $7.5.

Out of thanks, but excellent post- agreed on all points.
