Could you Imagine if he connected with Cernaks face or neck instead of the chest? We could be talking about murder. The NHL and Kassian are both lucky it didn't end up worse. There are probably owners of 30 teams that are extremely pissed off about this incident, his suspension should 10+ and probably should be the rest of the season.

So it is supposed to be an in-person hearing but he chose to do it via phone instead? That shouldn't be allowed when a lofty suspension is coming. This is dumb. What is the point of having in-person hearings if the players don't actually have to go?

If a player decides not to go, they should tag on a couple more games for good measure, make that a standard decision, like if it is a 10 game suspension he gets 2 more games for not showing up. Lol.

Anyway, make an example of this guy. There goes their whole 1st line and the fans still think they will be in the top 3 in the division...

I think the optics of a guy that a month ago was suspended for attacking a defenseless player (Their words not mine), and then after getting suspended basically said I don't give a crap about your rules and laws, I'd do again.


And then does something worse, clearly lies about what happens to the media and shows no remorse.


At this point he's put Player Safety in a corner, they went light on him last time, they should drop the hammer on them this time, and not show favoritism because McDingdong might miss the playoffs again.

I could actually see it being Simon-like. Repeat offender a couple games later after his last one. Appearing to show no remorse. Not to mention that this is trending fast and hard on twitter. There is no grey area here anyone can debate like you can a headshot or bodycheck. This is black and white; no kicking another player with skates.

I suspect an example will be made of him due to the negative attention this is getting. At least that's my hope, and not just because he's an Oiler. If a Flame's player did this I'd say the exact same thing. No room in hockey for his.

The DoPs has a history of basing their suspensions on outcomes. No one was hurt in his last two incidences ( including this one) I just don't see them being heavy handed. Now, I think that intent matters, and that Kassian is a dangerous player who should be made an example of. Still, I have no faith that the NHL will do anything more then a symbolic wrist slap.
