Jesus H Christ people. We are in a crisis and now were fighting over whether or not we went too far because someone typed some words on the internet that we didn't like?
Just drop it already. Let's get this back on track and discuss larger matters at hand here. Pathetic.

Just wondering if there are any CP ers that we should be worried about or checked up on.
I have seen many on here that have been at some point evacuated and wonder if any help can be extended to those just returning home today that might be to shy to ask for help.
I havent heard from 2 in Douglas Glen but know power may still be an issue for them so I hope they are okay. IF anyone living in that area can chime in on this that would be great.

I really don't care one way or the other about this individual and his comments, but if the talking about him is going to go on for several more pages, can someone spin it off in a separate thread? This thread loses its usefulness when there's post after post on issues really unrelated to the flooding.

My brother lives in Deer Run. He took this picture in Fish Creek today.
As he says, "Maybe a little undersized for the task ahead..."
He took the Spill Kit home as a memento.

Alright onto more positive things.
If one we're looking to make a monitory donation, is Canadian Red Cross the best organization at this time?
Sounds like general volunteers arean't needed as of yet (do correct me if I'm wrong on that, most calls I'm seeing are for specialized equipment) so are cash donations the next best way to help at this time?

Great job on having an emotional response to regionalism but not humanism.

That's what they are saying, and that's where I'm sending my dollars.
Red Cross is the first organizations to come in and help in relief efforts.

Any link to the most recent press conference? Getting news down here is difficult at times.

I used to volunteer for the Canadian Red Cross in Calgary. They are fantastic at organizing support for disaster relief.
Money well donated I say.

So I was reading the re-entry information on the Calgary City News blog and am a little confused on my next steps. I put a claim in with my insurance company on Friday as soon as the flooding occurred and they said they'd get the adjuster out next week to begin the assessment. I've since pumped out the water, opened the windows, moved all the wet stuff out and have fans going. The pamphlet on the news blog suggests I should begin tearing everything out that has been affected as soon as possible. Am I right to wait for the adjuster or should I be taking it to the foundation asap? It's a basement suite that was flooded a few feet so removing everything means dumpsters upon dumpsters of material...

I would take lots of pictures, and when you think you have enough, take more. If you throw stuff away take pictures and list the items.
I can't see any insurer/gov't agency being upset that you started to mitigate you loss.

I would agree with UB, take as many pictures as you can, but you have to get on top of things before it gets worse, the last thing you want is things like Mold taking hold or further damage.

Does anyone hand any success stories with dehumidifiers and mold? I've got my place dry and am now running one of these things hoping it will prevent mold.

Best thing to do is take photos and document what you are doing (including your time). Do enough to dry everything and prevent mold. There should be some consumer products out there to help with mold, just not familiar with them myself.
