I’m at peace with Tkachuk and gaudreau leaving. Another 8 years of the same old same old would be boring as hell. Looking forward to some new faces - even though it may be tough at times. Change is good.

Flames exposed their captain in expansion, so did the avs. ROR is expensive, has only one year left, and no NTC. He's their only significant salary they can trade away to fit in Tkachuk.

That is also the opposite of the trade they should make. I'd be mad

You know who is probably bummed? Markstrom. If he didn't crap the bed, maybe all of this wouldn't be happening. Plus he signed here with winning in mind, not a rebuild.

Agreed, being one of the best teams in the NHL was frigging boring this year.
Bring on the carnage and pain of being a bottom 5 team!

Should've got those shovels in the ground on schedule.
Greed and selfishness has become the team's undoing.
Which is weird because I thought we were breeding a culture that was the polar opposite of that.

Flames won't move to a new city as long as Arizona is coddled by the league. But we can't be complacent, even the older Jets franchise ended up moving to Phoenix when it was clear that Winnipeg was no longer a suitable home for the team.
Hopefully this off-season has been a sobering experience for Flames ownership. They need to stop nickle and diming this team and start investing into their future. Part of that future includes a new arena. The Saddledome is a mess.
A new arena would do wonders for making the Flames a more attractive team to play for.

This would be a lot more exciting if I felt that this org would actually commit to a tear down rebuild. This core was never winning a cup, I just wish it was a different GM undertaking this.
... also different ownership.

Are the Blues a better team with Tkachuk vs. Kyrou? Sure, Tkachuk is unique, but he also benefited from playing with Johnny, is super slow, and a no-show in the playoffs. I'm not so sure he's a difference maker.

You must have missed where we got absolutely spanked by the Oilers. Time for a change.

Imagine if the Flames played it really smart and retained on Lindholm too.
A top line center, with no trade protection for $2.5M for the next two years.
That might demand a better return than Tkachuk

My 7 year old asked me the other day to return his JG jersey and get him a Tkachuk one. Kill me.
