Monahan can sit for a couple games IMO. He had stretches at times where he looked okay earlier this year when playing with Dube or Mangiapane, but he's a liability when asked to play with Lucic/Lewis.

Flames don't have the cap space to call up a player, just to sit another player. Also Dube isn't a centerman. I only see Pelletier or Phillips called up if JG is out for an extended period of time.

Lol I missed this whole moron in the middle here too. As if he needed to look like more of an idiot, but his use of additional spaces after punctuation makes it clear that he's either from Leduc, or shovels paste into his mouth directly with his hand instead of with a spoon.

I'm not too concerned about the loss. Flames looked pretty gassed through parts of that game and made some mental mistakes that we haven't seen them make in a long time. They also made the mistake of taking their foot off the gas after they went up 2-0. I'm just gonna chalk this one up to fatigue.
Caps got their big win against a top tier Flames team, so I'm assuming they'll probably just mail it in against the bottom feeder Oilers tonight, which is unfortunate.

or the roster space for that matter and only player that you can send down without waivers is Ruzicka which is counter to the plan
so in that mock scenario I guess Richardson and Ritchie (which some will say no big loss, but suspect neither Sutter or Tre wants to risk losing veterans for nothing with the long road ahead, just to trial some players when the team is sitting so comfortably) would need to be waived (and then I'm not even sure if the cap dollars work)

The Flames need to add an effective bottom 6 forward at the deadline. Not a Ritchie type. Somebody who has actual strong defensive metrics and can actually play a role to frustrate the opposition. Monahan/Lucic are getting dummied against awful competition. When our top line is thriving against the other team's best, this really should make it easier for our bottom 6. But they aren't taking advantage.
I don't really get the noise in the media about the Flames chasing another defenceman. It would be fine, but only for insurance if somebody goes down. I don't see the need to force somebody like Kylington down the lineup.
Another defenceman is a nice luxury to have, but my need right now is a bottom 6 forward.

Lewis is a good defender. Doesn’t mix well with Monahan or Lucic. I don’t know though, exactly how they did against awful competition as far as last might went. The first goal was Sheary who is decent (15 goals and 29 points) and the second was against the top line with the best scorer in history scoring. Huge mistakes but they weren’t ‘dummied” by the 4th line.
Now the Caps 4th line did score a goal, but not against the Monahan line.

I highly doubt any team would pick up Ritchie. Richardson there is a small chance.

Caps are not a top team. But they are like the Oilers with a much better bottom 6. In other words, they are a team who on a night can get good goaltending and if so have two or three guys who can turn the game around on 2 plays. The best goal scorer in history, with a Hull-Oates like connection with his centre.

oh don't get me wrong, they border on no value, but there's always a chance a team planning on jettisoning players at the deadline just grabs some live bodies
I don't think I would be opposed to waiving them but I could see why either our coach or GM might be

It's crazy when you look at this teams record and think about how many games the schedule might have cost them.
I don't remember ever seeing this many back to backs on home ice.

I remember thinking back when they had the brutal road schedule at the beginning that at least they’d have an easy schedule in the 2nd half. The deferred games really put the boots to that.

I looked at the stats after reading this post and Monahan had the lowest ice time of all skaters which has to be a first for him. IMO there's no reason Ruzicka should be in the press box over Monahan but Darryl does things his way and it's not always conventional.

I'll make one post on this subject, and won't bring it up again.
I went to the game last night and DID NOT boo Ovechkin. To me, it felt like the crowd was booing him because he's Russian. Which is wrong. Booing other teams stars is totally acceptable, but not based on their nationality.
But this morning, I realized he STILL hasn't changed his instagram profile picture. It's STILL him with Putin. That is abhorrent and frankly unacceptable. I am now OK with the booing. He has chosen which side of this invasion he's on. I'm big social media person and didn't realize this till now.
Guys like Kuznetsov, Orlov & Zadorov were not being booed, so that tells you the crowds are smart enough not to just boo any ol Russian on the ice. I don't think other Russians around the league are being booed.
I fully support the booing now and I hope Edmonton goes crazy booing (but I also hope he scores on them and beats Jagr).

I wouldn't say they had poor goaltending last night. It's more that they were poor defensively in the second half of the game, especially with the Tanev and Kylington pairing. The 3rd pairing was fine in getting pucks out of the zone where the other 2 pairings were mostly scrambling in their own ends having to deal with bad turnovers. You can blame it on goaltending all you want, the defensive effort just wasn't there last night. Hopefully, the Flames will have a better defensive effort tomorrow against Tampa.

What do you think would happen if he changed his picture...? guaranteed Putin is monitoring every thing he does and says

I think that his bravery in doing so would skyrocket his profile abroad and even Putin couldn't harm him or his family at that point. Doing the right thing isn't always the easy thing.

Not sure I buy the explanation, but I'll take it.
EDIT: Watching the replay on a full size monitor, it does look like Wilson's left skate contacts Johnny's right skate. Hard to say what contact occurs between Wilson's left leg and Johnny's left leg (if anything it does look more like a quad (charley horse?) versus a knee): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QbSZP-N89TA
