I thought the Flames started really good in the first period, seemed to slow down in the second, played better in the third but ran out of gas at the end.

The Caps are a good team, they have to be a favorite coming out of the East, them and Tampa I would say at this point.
Wat? not even close. They are a wild card and will likely lose in round one. On fumes Flames with poor goaltending almost beat them

Every goal was incredibly well placed and no, Markstrom likely has no different result

You think Markstrom stops that Ovechkin shot? Lol

The guy had very few easy, save percentage padding shots

Selective reading as the third goal wasn’t Ovechkin’s.

Big rebound back into the middle on a routine shot caused panic and he somewhat lost the net on the rebound too.

3rd goal went right over his shoulder, but far from bar down. Even Kelly reluctantly said it should’ve been stopped.
4th goal was similar, a bit better shot but again he makes himself too small when going on his knees to be beaten high with a shot that doesn’t have to be perfect.

Markstrom would’ve had likely better rebound control on the first one and saves at least the shot on the third goal, which was the difference in the game score wise…and, the Caps were lethargic and outplayed until they got that iffy first goal and from then on in they had the advantage in play.

Probably why Wilson did it at the end of the game, so he wouldn't have to answer the bell to Lucic.I cannot believe people would defend that hit.

Felt like the Flames woke up the beast after they were snoozing a bit in the first half. Once the Capitals scored, they really turned it in the latter half of the second and just found goals throughout the rest of the game.

Really could've used at least one save on either the Mantha goal or the Dowd goal, Vanecek on the other hand was great. Thought the new 3rd line gave the team a new look. Wouldn't be opposed to seeing them a bit more. Lot of skill on that line and finishing capability and it showed.

Top line was simply outstanding again, they stringed together a multitude of shifts where they just took it to the Capitals. Really impressed. On the other-hand though, as good as the top line was, the 4th line was equally as bad. Darryl actually had to bench them just to keep them from hurting the team.

Treliving has to be watching knowing full well this will be unacceptable for the playoffs. You can't enter a series when you have such a glaring weakness that opponents can take full advantage of. I definitely see a move being made here before the TDL to bolster that line. Darryl likes to roll all 4 lines and he can't do that without a line he fully trusts.

Yeah, no. I am fully aware of what goals were scored, when and by whom

I did not connect those goals but see how you read it that way

Perhaps you didn’t see the stuff that went through Markstrom vs Montreal.

I like Markstrom, he is very good. But do not think he helps tonight

Rebound control on goal 1 a culprit? That’s laughable. A hard shot off the pad from inside 10 feet? Lol. He could have done without Looch serving a pizza into the slot and face planting

The third goal was a sweetly placed shot, through Kylington’s legs, a bullet over the shoulder. If that’s a bad goal, then you have a pretty good goalie. Nice problem to have

4th goal ‘a bit better’? Again laughable. Hathaway takes his eyes away and that shot was off the post through traffic, so I don’t know about this making himself small comment. If the Flames score on a shot like that, it’s a perfect screen. Somehow if they let it in, it’s on the goalie.

I find it to be kind of silly.

You should brace yourself for a challenging week.

Meh, Flames have a nice cushion right now. I'm actually not too concerned about where they sit in the standings either, it's more about who they end up matching against for me and right now, whether they finish 1st or 2nd in the division, they could end up facing anyone right now. The wild cards/3rd place in the division could drastically change in any given week. This playoff race is nuts right now.
