Agreed, I was at a restaurant in Kelowna this weekend and the waitress said this stuff was selling like crazy. Thought I'd try it....not impressed. I actually think Corona with a real lime is much better than this. This beer lacked flavor, and as you said, was super light almost to the point of feeling watery. I didn't think it was good at all.

I'm usually one of those "Light beer is for p%$$ies, kind of guys," but on my camping trip on the weekend I had 24 bottles of the stuff and decided to replace water with BL Lime in between serious drinking sessions. Had the temperature been much colder I could have imagined craving a different brand.

I've seen signs on the door of two liquor stores about this stuff. One said "We don't have any and we don't know when we will". The other said "We have it but we limit it to two cases per customer and we won't sell to restaurants".
I ain't never seen anything like it. I mean come on, it's Bud Light. If I'm going to spend 27 bucks on a case of beer, I'll buy good beer, not flavoured Bud Light.
The guy behind the till told me that the bottles are from the UK and the cans come from New York State, so it's an import and gets the import price.

I tried it. Found it refreshing. Tasted good right to the bottom. But so would a corono with lime if it was hot out.
I'm going to buy some bud light and squeeze lime in it next time I drink. We'll see what that does, I'll also try to trick the GF with it.

I starting to think this is an artificialy created shortage. Like, why would Brewers advertise on TV that this beer is now available in Canada and not have enough product to supply liquor stores?
Create a huge hype in order to get drinkers wondering what is so great about this beer and I really have to buy this stuff. Great marketing scam they got going.

At $250 a pop, they've grossed $12.5 billion in Wii sales. I think they're doing ok.
When the Wii came out, they underestimated demand, true. But it's not like you can just increase production by waving a magic wand, it's an extremly complex manufacturing chain where the scarcity of one component affects overall numbers significantly. Launching a product of this nature is a gamble - you don't want to have too many units on the shelves, because you're not making much profit on each one and units on shelves mean lost $$$$, so it usually pays to be cautious and conservative in your sales estimates. For the Wii, once the pre-sales went crazy, they immediately looked into getting more production online, but it's a 6-12 month lag between doing so and actually having more units to ship. In the meantime, the hype didn't get any smaller so I question whether or not it actually cost Nintendo many sales in the long run.
Bud Light Lime, on the other hand, is probably made in the same factory as regular Bud Light, except with slightly different ingredients and a different label. Ramping up production shouldn't take more than a month or two at most.

When it became avaliable in the States last summer they didn't have the shortages we have here. I was at my brothers lake house in Northern Minnesota last summer and you could buy that beer anywhere. It was a huge hit last summer in the States so they had to know it would be big here in Canada.

Yeah, I'm gonna go out on a limb and say that this is definitely calculated strategery (hey, I just made up a word). I think why they're doing this probably has something to do with knowing that this will be a summer hit for awhile and then it'll fade off and they'll discontinue it. Creating this demand is a way for them to maximize profits on a temporary brand instead of a regular release with only moderate hype. The whole aspect of having to wait to try it has an amazing power over consumers. Hearing people talk about it makes everyone want to try it. If it was just plunked down in the middle of the liquor store beer cooler for all to grab, there wouldn't be the hype. I know there's no way I'd have paid $6.75 to try a light beer at the pub had I not seen this thread where everyone had an opinion.

I'm having one right now. Wasn't too keen on it on #1. #2 seems to be going down a little easier.
Definitely not worth the $2.50 imo
