I didn't criticize offering a PTO either.
It's closer to 13 than 10 too. But I remember a lot of posters on this board liking Dawes and wanting the Flames to get him around that time. They did and as I noted he produced what could be expected offensively and the team moved on after a year. So a lot of what was posted about Milano before this announcement seemed similar to me. That and it's an era where the team did change out some key players albeit over a longer time frame.
There's no such thing as a bad PTO in my view so I'm fine with this, and I hope Milano can turn this into a contract and a nice career with the Flames. I'm sure he'll get a long look in camp, and the chance to play with the 8 other established top forwards on the team. Lots of potential opportunity to show case himself in a variety of roles.
When it comes to forwards, especially wingers to me height is not a huge factor. Had Dawes been 5'8 and 155 pounds that would be one thing, but he was stout enough that he shouldn't be knocked off the puck or pushed out of spots.
We will see what happens. Milano is at the age where if he can't make something out of this, he won't be around the league much longer.
