He did have 34 points in 66 games and is 26...he certainly is an interesting player and not just on CP. Injury issues seem to be the main concern, far worse players have secured contracts.
As good as signed IMO unless he just absolutely blows it. Most likely better than some of the players he would replace and at a lower price.
It might just be the weed, but I have a good feeling about this fellow.

hopefully, he is friends with Hanifin too apparently

I just think if he has a really good camp and seems healthy some team might Versteeg him.

Would love to see him make the team and hopefully flourish under Sutter. The guy has size and skill. I believe he can play the off wing too. If he can step in and play in that top 6 on the right side with Toffoli, I think we are way better off.

Sometimes NHL GMs are potatoes. This appears to be one of those times.

Yep, league is full of high end players that were passed on multiple times. Nobody wanted Kylington at league min not long ago for example.

I didn't criticize offering a PTO either.

It's closer to 13 than 10 too. But I remember a lot of posters on this board liking Dawes and wanting the Flames to get him around that time. They did and as I noted he produced what could be expected offensively and the team moved on after a year. So a lot of what was posted about Milano before this announcement seemed similar to me. That and it's an era where the team did change out some key players albeit over a longer time frame.

There's no such thing as a bad PTO in my view so I'm fine with this, and I hope Milano can turn this into a contract and a nice career with the Flames. I'm sure he'll get a long look in camp, and the chance to play with the 8 other established top forwards on the team. Lots of potential opportunity to show case himself in a variety of roles.

When it comes to forwards, especially wingers to me height is not a huge factor. Had Dawes been 5'8 and 155 pounds that would be one thing, but he was stout enough that he shouldn't be knocked off the puck or pushed out of spots.

We will see what happens. Milano is at the age where if he can't make something out of this, he won't be around the league much longer.

Honestly if he has a really good camp I wouldn't be surprised if someone swooped in and snatched him...Flames cant offer much more than league minimum. This is a player who not too long ago was a highly rated first rounder who was a big time scorer win the CHL and AHL. 14 goals last season including the goal of the year (although that had a lot to do with the pass but nice hand eye)
Most PTO’s you get why it’s a PTO. Borderline NHLer or a veteran on his last legs.

26 year old first round pick who scores 0.5 pts/game usually isn’t what you envision.

Yeah, as far as PTOs go, this is close to the best you can usually hope for as far as potential upside goes. There were a few people who wanted the team to straight up sign Milano at the start of free agency to a low risk deal.

That was kinda my point...he was knocking CP for saying he was the best player available...but he actually was and not just CP thought so
