Not necessarily. If you’re not playing with them 5 on 5 you’re barely playing at all. You’ll never see the powerplay, and might get 7-8 minutes on a 3rd or 4th line playing with other league minimum players

Milano is probably one of the more likely PTOs around the league to get a contract and be a contributing player. Obviously players going into camp on PTOs have big question marks, otherwise they would be signed, but off all the free agents still sitting around, Milano is the guy.

Yes, his underlyings were outstanding in Calgary

Dawes was 5'-8 and 200 pounds...Milano is 6'0 and 194.
Flames lacked a top 6 forward than and needed someone cheap up front who could add offence and took a shot at Dawes on waivers to help fill the void.
Tell me how this is sooooo different? Outside of a tryout vs.a guaranteed contract which likely shows this team being in a better place than that one was.
Regarding advanced stats from 2012...no clue. They didn't dominate the internet the way they do now. I just remember Dawes being a guy who got mentioned a lot that offseason and eventually was acquired.

Why would it be more appealing though, those 2 players will be playing close to 25 minutes a game and that will eat into other players' minutes. And those 2 will be on the same line most of the games, so, to be able to get on that line, chances are pretty slim.

I see a player who'll do what he's told .
A player that goes to the hard areas , isn't shy about contact, hitting , has a good motor and yeah maybe a little nuts and has some concussion issues maybe but if he's the benchmark on what's required to be a flame sign this dude .
Yeah, let him come in and show his stuff . If Darryl thinks having him around benefits the team then he knows a helluva lot more than us armchair gms and coaches.
Guys got good hands for passing and shooting . Good perefial vision.....let's see what happens ....can't hurt.
Young guys better be on their toes.

4 inches makes a big difference (that's what she said)
It's just an odd comparison going back 10 years.
How that worked out has no bearing on how this one will

I've always been under the impression that an extra 4 inches is quite substantial

There is nothing here to criticize...it's a PTO for a youngish player who had a good season last year.
How is a 2 year contract 10 years ago that didn't work out relevant at all exactly?
I'm not saying it will work out but there is no reason to criticize

I recall Versteeg was on a PTO with Edmonton and then signed with Calgary.
I guess the thing is, no one has signed Milano yet so it's improbable someone comes along and signs him now when he's at another team's camp, but not impossible.

Versteeg, the ultimate troll job. He knew exactly how to endear himself to Flames fans right from the start.

He picked the Flames over other teams PTO offers, I think he signs if we make him an offer.

Honestly. I want him and Eakin signed for cheap. Stone maybe also. But then we either gotta make some trades or risk losing someone in waivers.

2x2.5 would be decent IMO. Gotta trim some cap fat to make that happen though. He's a decent fit in the middle 6. You're just banking on Toffoli being a big benefactor to playing on the top line RW.

How many guys on a PTO end up singing? How man that signs get a multi year deal? Lol that would be terrible. He's getting a small 1 year deal if he makes the team.
