Players won't agree to that unless they get something in return, and the NHL probably doesn't care about that enough to concede on something else.

Doubt they'd strike over it either though

Agreed but the NHL knows they can't fine Kane because he doesnt have money to pay it.

Walman should be sitting a game for his conduct.

NHL not setting a great standard for the players. Dude was unhinged.

A $5k fine isn't a deterrent.

It’s still crazy to me that Bouchard got away with the biggest hack to Verhaeghe before Kane’s high stick.

I posted this during game 2 but how many years did we see teams blatantly hold and slash Gaudreau in the playoffs just to be told that this is playoff hockey and the Flames need players who can adjust to the change in rules. These "playoff rules" apply to some teams and not others. For years we were gaslit by even posters on here about how we should not complain and that Johnny was just not a playoff player and too small.

No, this sport is horribly refereed with clear favoritism for certain teams and players. Go re-watch either of the series Johnny played vs the Ducks and tell me the same rules are applying this series. I'm glad the Panthers are up in this series but they also have gotten an extremely favorable whistle during their playoff run

The only reason the NHL has the fines in the first place is for PR optics. Dirty plays do more to increase viewership amongst casual fans than flashy goals do.

But also... wtf was this: "let's get one win at home and see what happens"?

You have 1+ read games to play before that, did McDavid just already give up on those?

Maybe he's just rambling incoherently and didn't mean that, but in any case... yeah that's the kind of "leadership" you'd expect from a team that lost the plot as badly as the Oilers.
So he expects to lose the next game in Florida down 3-1 going home and win one game at a time?

In a matter of 5 seconds...

1. Kane tries to slewfoot Jones
2. Bouchard two hands Verhaeghe in the back of the leg
3. Kane slashes/sticks Verhaeghe in the face while he is down from the initial slash

Result? two minute PP for the Panthers.

The Bouchard slash was a 2 handed chop. It deserved a fine. Never seen so many attempts to injure.

That's at least 1/2 dozen "intent to injure" 2 handed slashes delivered by Bouchard. The NHL needs to be aware of this and hand down a suspension.

He took Hintz out of the series basically and the game he came back Bouchard slashed him on the same foot. If I was a player anywhere near Bouchard in October I'd break his foot. I'd get the heaviest thickest blade and 2 hand him mercilessly to the top of the skate.

Right in front of the officials. Pretty crazy how much they let go last night as I can't remember a game that had so many cheap shots and intents to injure.

I have to agree. It was a very dirty game and it all started with Kane!

Both sides took some liberties but the amount of dirtiness from the Oilers....2 - $5000.00 is not nearly enough.

Tkachuk being held while being punch by Walwart and the viscious crosscheck on Bennet were absolutely horrid. And then have it topped off by the spear while the player is vunerable down on the ice.

Even my wife, who is an Oilers fan, lost total respect for them last night.

Panthers need to send these to the league cos they should know that Oilers will complain to the league about reffing.

I don’t know about that. Game 1 was probably as good as that team can possibly play, and it took a McPP in OT to win it. Time will tell, but I just don’t think they have another gear.

It looks like Panthers has just shifted to another gear last game and demolished the Oilers, Oilers' another gear is whining to the league an refs so they can get more PP cos they just have no solution to Panthers 5 on 5 plays.
