That's true. Lindholm is greatly superior regardless of position. I was just thinking that if Buffalo doesn't like Calgary's prospects and young players as much as Vegas', they might want a better established player to flip for more assets. That's what I meant when I said Tkachuk or Lindholm in the Smith slot. Can you imagine what Buffalo could get for Eichel if they got Tkachuk + from Calgary for Eichel and then flipped Tkachuk to St. Louis?
Who knows? I wish someone would give us some idea of what Buffalo wants from Calgary.
(Of course, if Buffalo is getting Tkachuk instead of Smith, the other three assets coming from Calgary would surely have to be much less.)

It's like people here haven't looked at BUF's depth chart. Areas of most need:
1. Goalie
- Ukko Pekko Luukkonen is a fun to say/hard to spell promising 22yo, but not a sure thing (AHL numbers = bad)
- Devon Levi - 19 yo 7th rounder who has popped like Wolf
I think they'd love a young NHL ready goalie. Vladar is about to turn 24 and fits the bill. I wouldn't be at all surprised if Tree acquired him with this in mind as a possibility, and if BUF's signing of Anderson also considered this (that most teams trading an NHL ready goalie would need to find a backup, which is becoming slim pickings.
2. RHD
They are well set on the left with Dahlin & Power (not sure if either really plays off-side?), and several young LH depth D like Bryson, Samuelsson (2018 32OA), Ryan Johnson (2019 31OA in the NCAA) and a couple pending UFAs in Butcher/Hagg for this year.
The right side is more sparse with pending UFAs C Miller and Pysyk, and 22 yo Jokiharju who should be a solid middle pairing guy. Otherwise, just a few longshots in the system.
Tanev could make some sense as partner for their shiny toys, but I think more likely they'd seek Andersson and his 5 years of remaining term.
3. Top 6 C
Hopeful 1C - 20 yo Cozens
Hopeful 2C - 22 Mittelstadt
They could certainly use another round in the chamber, but IMO the best way they will find that is a '22 or '23 pick. Nobody is adding much to any high certainty + high upside prospect. I imagine Zary would interest them as much as any other Flames forward/F prospect.
BUF is loaded with winger prospects. I'm sure they'd love a Mangi/Dubé, but not at the expense of filling other needs.
Andersson+Vladar+ Cond. 1st* +Zary** for Eichel + Anderson (or we sign Dubnyk, etc.)
* If the CGY pick is #1-3, BUF receives CGY's 3rd rd pick that year and defers the 1st to the following year
If the pick is #4-10, BUF receives the pick, but sends CGY it's 2nd rd pick
If the pick is #11-16, BUF receives the pick
If the pick is #17-24, BUF receives the pick and CGY's 3rd that year
If the pick is #25-32, BUF has the option to receive CGY's 3rd and defer the pick
- all of these conditions apply in perpetuity until the 1st is transferred
**I'd much rather include Pelletier, but not a hill to die on
