The whole "I will have a Republican in my cabinet" was a colossally stupid thing to campaign on. Other than West Wing fanfiction and "enlightened centrist" types, who does that actually appeal to?
I'm not saying she should automatically disqualify someone for being a Republican, but boldly proclaiming that as if it was something monumental was maybe the most obvious sign of how disconnected establishment Dems are from the average voter.

Honestly, America might get what it asked for but...this could be a nightmare for Foreign Policy across the Globe, which, I'm not sure if you've noticed ain't exactly doing 'Hot Awesome' at the moment.
And unfortunately we get dragged along for the ride.
Goddammit America...you had 1 job!

Trump had those voters locked in already.
Look where the Democrats lost vote share last night: young non-college men and Latinos. Those are the voters Democrats need to win back. The notion that they should double-down on college-educated urbanites is barmy. The demographic of John Oliver fans just isn’t that big, and they almost all vote Democrat already.

I think she was mainly overcompensating to try to break from the "radical leftist" label Republicans were putting on her in an effort to win moderates.
But yeah, that's not really going to drive voters; independents don't really care about that kind of stuff and 95% of Republicans are going to vote Republican like they do every other election. And the Cheney stuff was just ridiculous. It's not a surprise that Democratic turnout dropped like it did.

####ing dumb. But believe what you want to believe, that's the world we are in now. Facts are irrelevant.

This is just it...people can do victory laps for getting it right they earned it I guess. Him winning doesn't change any of the facts about him though. He is a racist, sexist, rapist, fellon, who believes in less rights for certain humans. He is a grifter who will do anything and everything to make a buck and make himself look good. Yes we survived last time, notice how almost zero of his previous admin still supported him?
When you know how stupid the average person is and then realize that half are even dumber it kinda all makes sense I guess.

I don't know... young non-college white guys want higher wages, more healthcare, UBI, more subsidies, more college scholarships just for them (rubecube could name more). These are progressive policies.
But the Democrats have become a party of the east coast, west coast and cities, leaving the entire middle behind.
If you were from Mars and dropped into the DNC that week, you'd think the United States was 70% non-white, educated and all live in urban centers.

Is that what they want? Or do they want Gilead? Because the young non-college white guys voting for Trump voted against healthcare, against wealth redistribution, against education. They voted for women being baby incubators who are out of the workforce and back in the kitchen.

I'm not sure I agree with that. I feel that they'd be more likely to elect a woman candidate that excites them than a black candidate that excites them. They elected Obama already. The problem with Harris wasn't that, in my opinion.

It gets a little tiresome to hang out with, and I've lost touch with most of them over the years. It wasn't like this before Trump. I don't know if Trump has made people racist or just made it ok to be racist again, but I'm not buying that there are a lot of Trump supporters who are good people.
|
Yes Racism in the US (and Canada) started with Trump. Between 1980 and 2016 i never heard a single racist comment
72 million racists in the US (That voted - More that didn't)
And its a question why people don't take the sensationalism seriously out of peoples mouths

It is going to be VERY interesting to see what happens at the end of this term. Last time he knew he could get legally re-elected so should be interesting to see what happens this time now that he’ll be “done”.
I wonder if he will move to eliminate term limits.
Hell, I wonder if he’ll still be alive.

The dems are going to get about 15 million less votes than they got last time. Trump is slightly underperforming his total vote from 2020 as well. To somehow view this as anything but a catastrophic failure of messaging and voter excitement by the Dems is choosing to be willfully ignorant.

In fact I think people like AOC, Maxwell Alejandro Frost, Illhan Omar, Jamaal Bowman and Jared Moskowitz should be in front of resetting Democrat policy, platform, and messaging, working to entice younger voters back into the camp and reduce apathy for the next election. And their next round of leadership candidates should all be under 50 (but I will allow Bernie to run if he wants, he's a riot and a half).
|
I like this idea, but maybe with a slight change and have that block separate themselves completely from the Dems and go as a third party. Though I also think that if they do this, it will be a few years before they get signficant enough support, though it will come faster than if they did this say, 10 years ago.

Its the sexists racists fault. They didn't vote Harris. Wait.... They didn't vote. And were Dems.
So the Dems are the racists sexists?
