Before I say this, I don't really want to see any tariffs. But, I can't be the only one who wants to see Danielle Smith react to the idea that all the other tariffs are gone, and it's only energy.

The market reaction is pretty muted to this so far. It certainly didn't just pop right back to green.

Better ####ing not. I’m pissed and petty too, but we have nothing to gain by escalating.

Retaliate in kind until the end of time, but don’t escalate.

One good thing about the tariffs and Trump's anti-Canadian stance in general - the Canadian Flag has been reclaimed by the forces of good.

He said in his press conference that he will not remove them until tariff threats are completely gone.

Are we going to be doing this monthly for the foreseeable future? He's just trying to annoy us into submission?

Even Shapiro knows, tariffs are stupid. All they do create victims to pay the tariff to make a small of people richer.

That was before the most recent exemption announcement though. The Feds will likely tell him to hold off at least until April 2nd.

It's probably one of the few industries that could absorb it. Differential is currently around 25% (WCS to WTI), so adding 10% to WCS would still make it palatable to US refiners, who would likely just pass the increase down anyways.

In essence Trump just created a fuel tax.

yeah and it gets absorbed with the currency, as well as turnarounds to some extent as well. I would be surprised if the tariff on energy wasn't being removed here. I was just joking because Smith would lose her mind.

Honestly, if it continues to build Canadian resolve and self-reliance, I'm here for it.

Just say if he puts them back in place April 2 we will put our retaliatory tariffs back in place until end of year regardless of what they do.

I was just driving and thought this exact same thing.

Where are all the trucker convoy, anti-vax, F Trudeau, freedom fighting geniuses now with their huge Canada flags flying behind their F150s?

They only show their warped version of patriotism when they’re protesting their own country?

Probably, yes. At least until the USMCA is up for renewal in 2026, which I anticipate will be another complete s*** show. What a time to be alive.

So what are the April 2 benchmarks Canada has to reach now?

This reminds be of Mr. Burns telling Don Mattingly to shave his sideburns.
