Seriously though....the Flames actual plan is to give up assets for the Ritchie Bros at the trade line after they sign somewhere else for free.

It's a classic example of why in the 1st round you shouldn't draft the position you need, and should always draft the BPA

The Canucks were definitely guilty of that in the post cup run era. They had a mandate to get tougher and deeper at defence.

Virtanen over Nylander, Ehelrs, Fiala, Pastrnak, Larkin, Schmaltz, etc...

Juolevi over Tkachuk and Keller.

Every team drafts BPA - the difference comes in each team determining who they think BPA is.

Could have picked Tkachuk, based on their mandate. Obviously. they thought Juolevi was a stud.

Leivo signs with Salavat Yulaev Ufa of the KHL.

Yeah, while we're on the subject:

Why do the United Farmers of Alberta even have a KHL team? Traitors!

Former Flames pick Ryan Francis gets a try-out with the LA Kings....

Granted, with the main team off to Australia, the Kings added 13 PTOs to their camp. Some will get a look for AHL spots. Francis played last season in the ECHL.

San Jose already released Saku Maenalanen from his PTO. Apparently he failed the physical.

https://www.cbssports.com/fantasy/ho...20four%20years.

Subsequently signed in Switzerland.
