They only traded Monahan so they could sign Kadri. I’m not really sure how Toffoli is figuring in to that one.

8/12 points in our last 6 games. That’s good enough to avoid wringing your hands over and over about.

I don't care about last year, you of all people know how I felt about last years core. The Flames have been touted as a contender this year and they just lost to Columbus, factor that in as well as losing to Montreal like 10 days ago, I expect a win.

Dunno what you're expecting for a third game in four nights at the end of a road trip without Weegar and the 1C. It was a close one and they'll make the necessary adjustments before the Vancouver game.
Don’t get me wrong, there are some hilariously bad takes that have been posted recently. But at this point the frustration is more about the body of work as a whole than it is about any singular performance.

And by that I mean it’s quite clear that Darryl Sutter and Jonathan Huberdeau hate the Calgary Flames and their efforts each night are designed solely to torment Flames fans, and CP in particular.

Who was touting them as contenders though? You sure as hell didn't hear Sutter saying that. He was saying the goal is to make the playoffs and it would take time to find their game.

The team should fine the players $5000 for every penalty they take.

4-1 on the homestand.

Brutal loss in Columbus due in part to partying at Johnny's the night before.

Gutsy effort on the 2nd half of a back to back vs one of the best teams in the league in their barn, salvaging a point.

Missing 3 of its best players tonight, salvaging a point.

While it's unfortunate that they only get 2 of 6 points from the road trip, the sky is not falling. The team is starting to turn a corner in terms of gelling with one another, and just happened to run into a couple of speed bumps on this roadie. Look for a much better showing and a lot more points in the upcoming stretch of games.

Frustrating result but not entirely unexpected. This team could perhaps grab a playoff spot but there is nothing to indicate that they’d go deep (yes playoffs are a new game and all that). Frankly the team lacks skill but has some nice complimentary pieces. Unfortunately when you try to build a team around that the results won’t be very good.

We are desperately missing top end skill and to make things worse the one guy who was supposed to fill the majority of Johnny’s contributions is either having a mediocre year or simply not capable of being the guy. This isn’t necessarily about Huberdeau because the team has many more holes.

Shame to waste a great goaltending effort but once again no run support. Sutter’s system is not the issue. You don’t win coach of the year and then all of the sudden regress to be a non playoff team. I’ve accepted the fact that this team is mediocre at best. Pundits who claimed we were Stanley Cup favourites were obviously very wrong. Making the playoffs is going to be tough for this group.

I’ve said this before but there isn’t much that can be done other than staying the course. Can’t trade our way out of this problem, unless the goal is to acquire assets and start over. I just don’t see that being an option if you look at how agressive Tree and ownership was in ensuring we remain competitive. Let’s hope they can turn this around but the argument of needing time to gel or figure out a new system is starting to dwindle. There’s been enough of a sample size to get a good read on this group.

I heard Markstrom put up an all-star performance tonight to ensure as many mass casualties as possible when he lets in the GWG (a softie from center ice) with 10 seconds left to go next game.

So a 4th line PP specialist? Could be a fit.

I'll give you a big hint, Toffoli didn't just magically appear last year.

I wouldn't hate it ... I think PP2 looks better than it has all season right now.

We'll see. I think this lineup has potential. Penalties are killer right now though.

How does one team get penalties in OT in three consecutive OT games??? That has to be a record?

Weegar, Lindholm, Tanev are probably the last 3 I would want out of the lineup

It's unbelievable. It's really difficult to take anything major away from anybody's 5v5 play of late because the samples are just beyond disjointed.

I'll say, though ... I think Huberdeau is doing some really good things. I think he's right on the cusp of figuring it out. Kind of reminds me of what we saw from Hamilton right before he had his 50-point year here. Right around it.

Markstrom was great, honestly that's exactly what this team needs to get it's confidence back. I'm cautiously optimistic. I hope Tanev is okay, and hopefully he doesn't miss too much time, but he is vital if we want to get back to winning.

All in all I'm surprised at how many times we end up short handed. It didn't seem like a problem last year with largely the same roster. Sutter if you're reading this please try a line of Huberdeau - Dube/Ruzicka - Toffoli.

That's an interesting take. I keep seeing plays die on his stick. He also seems to have a lot of dman stepping up to him and then creating a turnover. He seems to be looking for things that are not there.
