Marky is the reason for the point tonight. Glad to see him rise up.

Backlund is the second reason for the point. Tasked with the duty of trying to be the primary centre for both the offensive and defensive duties of the Flames tonight. Not many guys in this league are asked to do both. I’ll never stop being a Backlund fan. I think he was in the positives for draws as well. What a player.

Yeah Lewis was NOT the problem this game. Everyone is in a race for the next thing to be outraged over.

And I think Huberdeau and Toffoli needs to change their position in PP1. Toffoli should be shooting from off wing and Huber needs feed him from everywhere.

Markstrom was so good tonight. Too bad they couldn't win the game for him. Hope Tanev is all right. Fun game to watch.

In the Flames more recent seasons, where they had good regular seasons, they typically were great up until Jan/Feb and then very pedestrian, even somewhat cold, heading into the playoffs. Maybe this year there they’ll look like a bubble team to start the season & then actually go on a heater closer to the playoffs and be hot heading into the post-season? I don’t know, probably grasping at straws, just trying to find some silver lining. I mean, they’re still technically in a playoff spot (not in points %, I know) despite not looking very good at all, except for the very start of the season. I mean you can’t watch their current play and think they don’t have another gear or three. But if Tanev, Weegs or Lindy (especially Tanev) are out for any extended period of time, that ain’t good. Great game from Marky though & I hope Phillips stays up, he hasn’t looked out of place.

The Kings had a HOF centre, d-man and goalie.

Not only that, but do you see how slow it is? His toe drag and shoot speed. Here I thought my curl and drag was slow, till I see his. It’s so slow, it allows the dman and goalie to reset for the shot. lol.

Once again, please watch Kadri whenever he tries to pass the puck. He has no clue what he’s doing. The pass to Toffoli in OT was a glaring example, but he did it several times where he threw the puck straight to Have players or completely missed the mark. He’s just brutal with the puck. No vision at all.

Kadri has one bad game and people forget that he’s been one of our most consistent scorers this year

I know there were a lot of penalties tonight but Huberdeau had less ice time than
Backlund
Lewis
Dube
Mangiapane
Kadri
Toffoli
and only 6 more seconds than Coleman

For a team that is really struggling for offense it might be time to start getting him closer to 20 minutes a game. Team is starved for offense talent right now.

Just glad Markstrom had a good game. But scoring is becoming a real issue.

His vision is poor and he's a puck hog. Plenty of times players have opened themselves up for a pass and be just circles and circles around and either directs a weak attempt on net or makes passes through coverage.

He's been very bad. Poor on faceoffs as well. Was supposed to bring some bite but that's been invisible as well.

Also Lewis kills penalty, that 16 minutes has a lot of them on PK.

I fail to see a single thing that Kadri has in common with Neal or Brouwer, including the fact he's second on the team in points and first in goals.

But people post this junk b/c its a "hot take" I guess.

Does playoff positioning really matter that much though? Flames won the division last season and it didn't translate a conference finals appearance let alone anything beyond that. Also see '18-'19. Finishing high in the standings doesn't really help you in the postseason.

I think some of you need to step back from the keyboards. It was a good, close game that the Flames played well in despite all the PP/PK time. The kids held their own in spot duty, Huberdeau had a hell of a game, Backlund looked good in Lindholm's shoes, and Markstrom put on a clinic.

Dunno what you're expecting for a third game in four nights at the end of a road trip without Weegar and the 1C. It was a close one and they'll make the necessary adjustments before the Vancouver game.
