Bear not bare.
He’s taken it on the chin his last contract. He’s going to have to make hay on this contract. So he’s going to need to negotiate hard.

Mangi got what he deserved last contract. He'll get what he deserves this contract. You don't get paid for PPG 5-on-5, you get paid for what you bring to the team. That will be what Treliving is going to negotiate from. So Mangi better have some really good comparables.

I’ve shown the comparables already. Treliving also has to be concerned about arbitration.

He has two years of RFA left though right? With a flat cap, if signing a monster contract is his goal he wont be doing it in this deal.

He does, but if people think these are his prime years, he needs to cash in.
I don’t see a two year deal. It’s either a one year deal lout of arb or he signs a 5 year deal.

Mangiapane only has one RFA year after this contract ends, so a one-year deal would take him directly to UFA.

If he is in a Mark Stone position and is a UFA after the 22/23 season, I am not sure why he would sign anything longer than one year.

Sabres gonna give him 6 x 6. Lots of cap space with Eichel off the books.

Somehow, someway, a number of Flames fans will still try to find a way to discredit Mangiapane and claim he's not top 6 caliber.
Unfortunately, they'd continue to be dead wrong, because Mangiapane has always been a stud.

Very few, if any non-ELC players have out-performed their contracts the last 2 years more than Mangiapane.

Winter? Crap. I fully expect this to drag out for a while and no one happy with the outcome. I'm sure Winter will trot out the MVP award from this tournament, but you don't get paid for playing in a IIHF tournament. This is going to be painful to watch.

Comparables - I’m sure they will point to Anderson, White, Tuch, Burakovsky, etc.

8 years, $48 million.
The number is only going up.
I have decided I am going to buy a Mangiapane jersey.

It will be interesting to see what he decides to do this summer. Will he try to capitalize on the success he had at the World Championships and look for an extension before Gaudreau and Tkachuk get theirs done? Or, does he decide to play out the final year of his contract hoping that his confidence will increase and he'll capitalize on playing a full 82 game season to cash in?

Tuch - signed a 7 year deal worth 4.75M AAV after he scored 37 points in 72 games (11 Even Strength Goals, 27 even strength points) when he was 21 years old (buying 3 UFA years, with a modified NTC during those 3 years)
White - signed a 6 year deal worth 4.75M AAV after he scored 41 points in in 71 games (9 even strength goals, 33 even strength points) when he was 22 years old (buying 2 UFA years)
Andrew Mangiapane will only have 1 RFA year after his current deal. Andrew Mangiapane at $6M is not a crazy idea. I hope we get him for south of that of course, but he also has some power as he can force a 1 year deal and walk to free agency. He just put up 32 points in 56 games (15 even strength goals, 26 even strength points). I imagine he is going to absolutely pop-off next season.
